Wow... It had been a few years since I had gone to Red Rock Canyon for a run. Since I plan on running a HM there in 5 weeks, and there is no urban landscape in the world that allows you to train for those hills, I made it out there yesterday for a 10-miler, 5 miles to the highest point and back.<br><br>
I'm still blown away by the scenery, even if I've been there dozens of times. And I've got to admit, I'm feeling this one a bit this morning.<br><br><img alt="" src="http://www.lvlg.com/lasvegas/attracts/redrock1.jpg" style="border:0px solid;"><br><br><img alt="" src="http://www.dkimages.com/discover/previews/933/50486724.JPG" style="border:0px solid;"><br><br><br><br><img alt="" src="http://photo.net/philip-greenspun/photos/pcd0432/red-rock-8.4.jpg" style="border:0px solid;"><br><br><img alt="" src="http://www.usacitydirectories.com/travelamerica/images/red-rock-canyon.jpg" style="border:0px solid;"><br><br><img alt="" src="http://www.howesim.com/articlevegaswebpage_files/image012.jpg" style="border:0px solid;"><br><br><img alt="" src="http://www.real-estate-brokers-las-vegas.com/images/redrockcanyon.jpg" style="border:0px solid;"><br><br>

Some great pictures. Where is red rock located? I may have been there before or at least drove by it. Looks like it will be a great HM.<br><br>
How did you do on the 10 miler???

The scenery is phenomenal. Never get tired of it.<br><br>
I can't take credit for the pictures. Stock stuff on the internet. I can barely walk and drink without coughing up water, so I certainly wasn't going to take a camera along.<br><br><img alt="biggrin.gif" src="http://files.kickrunners.com/smilies/biggrin.gif"><br><br>

Red Rock Canyon is west of the Las Vegas Strip, about 20-25 minutes up Charleston's Blvd., if there isn't too much traffic.<br><br>
It will be a great HM. One of my favorites, along with the Lake Placid HM (NY) each September, and the Bryce Canyon HM (UT) each July.<br><br>
The challenge is, of course, the hills...<br><br><img alt="" src="http://www.redwoodtrails.com/final/maps/p_red_rock.gif" style="border:0px solid;"><br><br>
The 10-miler was just a training run. About 59 minutes to the top, a few minutes to enjoy the view, and about 50 minutes back.<br><br>
