Well my legs felt better than yesterday and I got a better nights sleep but the temp was way up compared to lately so that slowed me down. I guess this is natures way of saying, back it off this week!

By then numbers it was 10.26 at a 9:53 pace.

Jill, to answer your q from yesterday, yep MCM with my brother is this weekend... should be a lot of fun. Hawk you're doing the 10k right? Any way we could meet up? Are the starts of the races staged near each other?

I am sposed to do an easy 6 today, but a nasty storm is brewing up.... tornado warning stuff. I ain't to fond of runing in 30 mph winds. I guess I'll have to hiy up the TM today... don't know if I can go for 6... maybe if something really good is on TV.

FB--nicely done.

fuller--sounds like perfect conditions for a run.

loopy--thanks for doing your 10 to keep the earth's rotation normal. But no taper???

BBS--meh with the tornado warnings! Get out there and run already!

Fishbowl for me this morning. Worst part was the gym is in basement, meaning I had to go down a full flight of stairs. Swim felt remarkably good. Threw in a kick set just to see how it felt. Felt so good that I threw in a second. 2500 total.

Got up early, put in 6.3 miles in the pre "storm of the century", 25 mph winds. Got a bit wet in the last mile and almost tripped on dozens of fallen branches. 70F. After that I hit up the chiropractor for a pain session. Now at work where the HVAC is freaking out. It's a friggin' sauna. Will be 50F when I go home.

Frustratus updatus: Well, was feeling better and had a couple of decent days waking feeling down but improving through the day. Today, slammed. Still a ways to go on this flu I guess.

Dan- It sounds like the flu is nasty. Hopefully improvement is around the corner.

5 miles in 44:22. I picked up the pace the last .30 miles and my legs felt like logs. My body is going into winter mode. Just putting in GA miles right now.

Morning all,

Recovery day is planned for me today...I'm thinking an easy 7 near work will do it. It's warm today, and a bit humid, looks likely to rain. So I might head across the street and do a TM run. I'd still prefer to go outside but the benefit of running indoors would be that I could stick in a weight session after the run. I really need one.

lopoy - yes, I'm doing the 10k. The starts are different but both races finish at the Iwo Jima memorial. It would be cool to meet up. The finish area will be crazy but maybe we can pick a spot. Nice 10 this morning.

FB - good job on 10+

BBS - yeah, looks like the southeast is in for some wet weather

4bm - pretty good swim for so soon after a marathon

RA - sounds like quite the morning adventure

Dan - enough torture, yes?

kevin - nice running on those logs.

Midday run all done...7 miles at a nice easy 8:26/mile pace. Felt like a walk in the park, even on a humid day.

Did anyone read this month's Runner's World article on minimalist shoes? It got my attention because I've seemed to be slowly drifting in that direction already. I already do my track workouts in Nike Frees and I often race in Brooks Green Silences, both of which made RW's recommended list of minimalist shoes to try. I have to admit I've even wondered about those five finger thingies...haven't quite mustered the courage up to seriously consider them yet, though.

Anyway the reason I mention all this is that another one of the minimalist shoes that made the RW list, the Saucony Kinvara, is on sale at Eastbay.com for only $70. I think I might just have to snap up a pair. Just thought I'd pass the info along for those who might be interested...

And note, I won't start this little experiment until after I've fully recovered from NYC.

Good afternoon!

12 miles with 2x3200 in there. Was suppose to be 3x3200 but it was really warm out there which was already killing me. My next workout is going to be in the cold, dark hours of the day, not in the midday sun.

I haven't read that article yet Hawk, however Warren Greene just did a minimalist running talk at my LRS last week. I'm working on getting him to do a minimalist trail running talk in November. The minimalist movement is an interesting one for sure. Still not sure where I stand on it.

Nice runs so far today.

Nice runs out there, looks like next week should be cooler running weather. We had 60s for DS1s football game last night which was nice, probably not going to be so pleasant for his little brother's game tomorrrow. PT for me this morning - some scraping and glute activation exercises... trying to get my R. glute to fire before the hamstring during extention. Interesting discussion about the minimalist shoes - something I've considered as heel striking was another thing the PT brought up

Evening, all, have a good one!
