Thanks for all the attaboys concerning my race. We shall see.

Mike - winged feet to you. Remember the race starts at 20. You've been running well so save a bit for when the race starts. I really enjoyed the Hartford course when we ran it. I understand it's a bit different but still....

Slept in 3 extra hours this morning in place of a 4 mile ez run. I think that's a good trade. Woke up to thunder and a monsoon. Weather guessers said no rain in 10 forecast last night and in fact showed how our lows were forcing all the moisture away. Loves me some weather guessers.

Leaving this afternoon.

Mike is going to be gone a couple days. So, somebody start the daily.

Mike - post a time or do they have tracking now?

Hi TW,

5.5 km for me this morning left late and did not have a lot of time to run.

Anyone know if it's safe to run in downtown Chicago at 6 am. I will be there on Monday for three days.

Hi Roly, I was just in Chicago this past weekend. Looks like everybody heads out by the lakeshore to run which is right next to downtown. From what I saw, there will probably be many other runners out at that time.

KS, If nobody else starts the daily, I will even if it is at 11 pm when I have usually been posting lately.

HF, My problem is more in my back as I have been having a lot of muscle spasms lately. It never helps when I have to tear buildings apart and do a lot of lifting while working. I go to a massage therapist once a month that helps. The main cause is racing half marathons or longer every week for the last 8 weeks!!

Well Geez, Rip, then stop doing that. Like tomwhite says "If it hurts when you do dat, don't do dat." (I know, I know, easier said than done, right?) And to answer your question from the other day, Equinox was marathon #6 for me this year, all since June. A good schedule, but would've liked to have had a flat course to run in July. Just did local races though.

Run well, ksrunr and irunmike! Hope to hear good reports from both of you.

Fortunate One, I hope you're still hanging around. Ditto what everyone else said about still posting even though you're not running. And you don't "have" to race to be a runner, you know that. But I also know that racing is more than the actual race. I know I'd miss it, but the goal would be to run again, racing or not. And yes, point well taken about the why of entering Boston. I said that mainly from a logistical standpoint. It's sort of like planning a safari to get there from here.

Was going to RAL, but I'm stalling, hoping for it to warm up. I had a really good tempo run last night, 7.2 miles @ 7:50 avg pace, but at 23° when I finished my ears were cold! I brought stuff for an outdoor run today but it's barely 27° out there... Takes awhile for me to get used to this again.

Hello RoadHawk. Definitely a good restart.

You must have dropped off about the same time I started exercising (after about a 35 year layoff )

That reminds me I ought to cheer everybody up by posting a "before" picture some time for laughs.

Today 7.1 miles at 8:27 pace, plus warmup and cooldown equals 8 and some change. This particular workout is /finally/ getting easier for me, so I guess I am making progress after all.

Nice run, Bob!

Erika! 27F will be like a balmy heat wave for you soon enough.

Road Hawk - we haven't met, but you're a runner, so were friends.

rip, a little down time wouldn't hurt, you know.

It figures, ks finally gets some rain and cool temps and he has to leave the state. Have a great race, ks. I meant to ask - is Julie running too? (Prolly too late to get an answer now...)

Hartford is doing the course backwards from past years to get all the hills done early. They have tracking, but only realtime updates to FB (I'm not on FB) and text msgs to phones. I'll post a result as soon as I'm able. I have no idea what I'll bring to the starting line, but I've had a decent training cycle ,so we'll see.

Hi Road Hawk

I'm having too much fun racing to stop now. ITband only hurts a couple days after a race and hasn't bothered me during any races.

I'm hoping to do another 3 or 4 races before the cold weather gets here and then take a little running break.

90 minutes on the eliptical this evening at a comfortable pace. Wrung out my socks when I got done.

Hi Gang!

Ran 6 tonight instead of the planned 5 miles - just HAD to get that extra mile to make 30 for the week on Saturday!

You know your limits by now, Rip, and how to manage any damage. Gotta have some fun in life, right?

Is that how you got your nickname? because you "let 'er rip" in races?? I'd believe it!
