Fun (?): sale at the yarn ship this morning from 7-9am. You have to wear your pajamas to get the big discount. Fun is questionable because it might be a mob scene, which I hate.

Not Fun: been awake since 4am (out of bed since 5) because of the stupid snow plows driving back and forth up the street, the blades of their plows clanging and banging around on the uneven street. And they were vibrating the house. Also, I have never heard trains honking at night, but it must be clear enough that the sound is traveling down the river. Hooooooooooooooooonk! Honk! Honk! HOOOOOOOoOOOOOOOOONK!!!

HA. I was in and out of the yarn sale in 15 minutes. That's fun. I'd told Sandy (who works there) a couple days ago what I was looking for, which was going to be moved for the sale, so she was looking out for me this morning and told me right where it was as soon as I walked in the door.

morning peeps.

I'm trying to motivate myself out of the house, but it's snowy here, just enough to make it lovely to sit on the couch and drink my latte and snuggle with the pets. Also, I made A.M.A.Z.I.N.G. waffles this morning! Holy moley! I used a recipe from my 1927? 1934? ed of the Boston Cooking School (Fannie Farmer) cookbook. They were so light and crispy and delicious. A bit labor intensive, you have to beat the egg whites stiff and the yolk thick, then fold them into the other ingredients, but worth it.

Kath, I started a really simple knitting project the other day and it's already making me nuts! I hate the nubby yarn I'm using. Meh.

I'm supposed to go to clothing swap in 30 mins...I guess I should get a move on.

I'm up to the plain stockinette part of the sweater I'm doing. WHich doesn't normally bother me, but this is in black, on small needles so there is a lot of it and you can't see any kind of stitch detail, and it feels endless.

Greetings, everyone.

I think I have found my home improvement/makeover nemesis: hanging curtain rods. After four attempts, and many holes in the wall now covered with fresh spackling material to be sanded and repainted later, I am giving up for the day. /grumble

I did, however get some other stuff hung up successfully in the computer room and workout room, so at least I sort of broke even today pride-wise regarding my home maintenance skills.

I want waffles now!! :)

I don't know. Maybe it has to do with the millions and millions of gallons of oil spilled into the Gulf last year. The water cycle we were all taught in third grade was no fairy tale.

hey all

I've had a fantastic morning so far. I made biscuits and 2 pots of tea, I had a fantastic super long phone call with one of my old roomies from college and we made plans for me to see her new place next month and I'm in the middle of chucking a bunch of crap and it feels gooooodddd AND I updated a bunch of picture frames. Nothing makes a room come to life like up date pictures!

I hope you all have a wonderful weekend and hugs/vibes to those who need them and well.... hugs and vibes to all of my 30's peeps!!

Wow! Productive mornings! Very inspiring! I think I'm going to make waffles for dinner. That sounds yum-may!! And I think I'll sit on the couch under a blankie and work on knitting. A giant nap sounds like a good idea too!

I had a wellness eval at 7 AM at the gym today. It's the second time I've done it. Ran on the mill with that stupid mask on that squishes my nose, did the BodPod and some new thing called BVI. I'm not really sure what the BVI is telling me, but the guy said there's only two of them in the US and they're both at Mayo. Which is great, but it'd be better if I knew what it was telling me. And this was prolly not the BEST time to do it since I'm not running much lately and eating plenty. But I wasn't up by much, weight is the same but the FAT MASS is up a bit. Really, I don't like the term FAT MASS. I posted in the fitness thread - the guy who conducted the eval is a hard core runner (62 years old, been running 47 years, currently runs every day outside and logs about 50-60 miles a week) and he was great to work with. His son is also a hard core runner - ran a 2:20 in Chicago and qualified for the 2008 Olympic Trials and last year placed 38th overall in Boston. So I think his advice was sound and I'm going to run with it! HAH! Punny! I have all these measurements - I'm going to see how much I can improve on them in 90 days. I can really use this motivation. And how much do I love that this wellness evaluation is free and I can go do it whenever I want?

OK off for a nap, knitting and waffles! Sounds like a good afternoon!

Hey, everyone. Belated happy birthday to Amichel.

I was worried that I was being wimpy by not going into the office while I had strep and that I was just using it as an excuse to be lazy, but I went to church last night and had to rest part way through because the Catholic calesthenics (sp) were too much for me. I also just woke up from a 2.5 hour nap which was colossally deep. Yikes. My body is tired.

Well...I can't remember a busier weekend. I'm pooped. One hockey tournament, which with regular season hockey practices and games came out to 8 trips to the arenas, along with one memorial celebration.

Thank you for your condolences. The memorial was a wonderful tribute to a sweet man who died needlessly. One couple opened their house from 2pm- 11pm for the celebration. It went much longer, I think. I got there at 5:30 and stayed until midnight and I was definitely not the last to leave. There must have been a good 300 people who came through those doors. There were people from all across the country who flew in just for the event. We should all be so lucky to be remembered by so many people and in such a heart warming way. It was touching and, dare I say, fun. I saw many faces that I hadn't seen in a while. I heard lots of great stories and caught up with old friends. As for the guy I used to date, he was fine at times but when toasts or speeches were made, I noticed he looked stunned more than anything else. I have a feeling he isn't going to remember much of what happened yesterday, and that the reality of losing his best buddy is going to take a tole on his everyday life.

Anyway...Peace to you all. Cherish the people that surround you everyday.
