Flurries in Baton Rouge last night! Flurries. I know, silly to be excited about that, but hey- we see snow about once every ten years. And! It's forcasted for Thursday. I am not holding my breath though.<br><br>
Work was insane yesterday. I'll have to catch up on the threads of the last couple of days this weekend when I have a chance. We admitted eight babies in four hours into our NICU. Weird wild stuff, I tell ya. I was so overstimulated it was crazy. So ready to get out and run this morning.<br><br>

Hank is laying across me chewing a bone and I've got coffee. Not a bad morning.<br><br><b>LL</b> that sucks! i've been involved in many union negotiations. teachers get a rough gig. they get a lot of pressure to teach because of how it affects others...and most of them realize they are public servants and want to do that work... however, districts use that to strong arm them into crappy contracts. In my district they want to issue merrit pay (rather than step increases) based on proficiency type scores. I actually would be all over that (i teach in a testing year- my scores are typically high) however, the SS test draws on material from 2 years before mine and my district shortened my period to 45 minutes from 60. If you do that math, its an hour and 15 minutes per week. 5 days a month. 2 school weeks each grading period. Over 4 grading periods, that takes 2 months of my teaching time and I am not only responsible for my material (American history) but also 7th (ancient civilizations) and 6th (community stuff). Add into that a culturally biased test and that special needs students (in my class a kid who talks to people no one can see and pees himself if he gets pissed off...) who is going to get merit pay?<br>
Our union wanted extra pay for extra education instead and the district just said, "um. no."<br>
Further, merit pay is up to 2000 dollars. Someone got 20 not too long ago.<br><br>
Long story short, <b>LL</b>... I really hope that this gets worked out for the families. I guarantee your teachers hope so too. <img alt="smile.gif" src="http://files.kickrunners.com/smilies/smile.gif">

I'm just sitting here at my brand new laptop (yey! <img alt="smile.gif" src="http://files.kickrunners.com/smilies/smile.gif"> ) drinking gatorade ( <img alt="wink.gif" src="http://files.kickrunners.com/smilies/wink.gif"> -- and I'm not kidding, it's blue) and getting ready to go back to bed. The pup woke me up with a little jingly, "please let me out" dance, but I only got to sleep at 2:30 or something and I could use another hour.<br><br><b>LL and Mandy</b>--try being a public librarian; we went without a contract for almost 2 years. By the time they'd settled the negotiations, I'd already left the system. I got a retro pay check 6 months after I left. Another year later, I got a check for the interest they didn't pay us on the retro pay. Crazy.<br><br>
Tiff[/n], while I have no idea how hard your job must be, I understand coming home wired. We start rehearsals for our show on Wed night and I know I won't be getting to bed before midnight - 1am those nights, because when I get home, I can't go to bed I'm so wound up. This will be particularly troublesome since I'm going to change my hours at work for the duration of the rehearsal sched, so I can leave earlier than I normally do, because I'll need to be at rehearsals early to deal with costume stuff. If you folks don't hear from me by April 1, send LL to rescue me, ok? <img alt="biggrin.gif" src="http://files.kickrunners.com/smilies/biggrin.gif"><br><br><b>Oache</b>, babe, hope your night improved over your day.<br><br><b>Heater</b>, how's your back today?<br><br>

<b>QOW</b>, if no one minds: do you use coupons? Do you seek out discounts and coupon codes? I ask because every time I make a purchase on line, I check to see if there is a coupon code I can use. I do the same for travel and I'll look to see if there are online coupons for in store purchases. Just yesterday, I was ordering something from JJill; found a code for $25 off a $50 purchase. Hell yeah! So, yeah, I use them.

Took myself to a movie and dinner last night, cause I thought BF was out doing standup and wouldn't be home. I get a call at 10:30 (cause I have a book and am sitting at my local lounging over dinner) wondering where I am...the poor guy forgot he wasn't performing, so spent the whole night sitting at home by himself. <img alt="smile.gif" src="http://files.kickrunners.com/smilies/smile.gif"><br><br>
I had a lovely time altogether - I love a good book, some amazing homemade pasta and wine (Team 3, you didn't see that!).<br><br>
