Well this is Monday and I've decided to start this program. So, if you're going to do this with me - Here's where we can post our runs and how it went!

I'll be back in a couple hours to report on my first run. If you're going to do the training with me, I thought we could post our runs etc here.

Hope I have some partners!

Well, I did 4 miles this afternoon - somewhat easy pace (for an 'inshape' runner). It's been about 5 days since my last run, so my legs were pretty tight. Stretched after mile one and mile three. Finished stronger than I started and then walked about 1/4 mile cool down and a good stretch.

The hardest thing about my runs so far is the extra 15lb I'm carrying. As that comes off, my strength and speed will increase.

I think I'll do 2 tomorrow then wednesday off with 4 on Thurs, 3 on Friday and I'll make sunday my long run with 5.

toe jam or jcumming - any input you'd like to offer will be appreciated!!

Hey there -

I am not using one of the KR programs, but I am starting up a HM training program. I was thinking of starting a HM trainig thread in 'The Race' forum. Any interest in tagging along there? I know a few other KRs that are looking at spring time HMs, so we may be able to get a nice mix of ideas\opinions\advice.

Rich! That sounds great so far and like a solid plan for this week. If you are super tight or really dreading a run, don't be afraid to x-train! You want to get back to enjoying running and sometimes that means not doing it when it just seems horrible..... also, be sure to stretch twice as much as you think you should after a run. Force yourself to start with 10 minutes and then go longer; it's just as important as the actual running so schedule it in!!! Great job so far!

2 miles tonight - Day 2 of week one.

I ran hard - pace not really taken, but if I measure based on my ability to talk while running - I couldn't!

1st 1/2 mile my body was yelling at me.. "I can't breath, slow down idiot!" - Legs, "Dude.. we're too damned old for this" - by 3/4 of a mile, they calmed down and started to remember how to do this.. my breathing start to sync with my legs.. by the end of the first mile, I wasn't hurting, but still breathing heavy and talking wasn't an option.

Return to 1 1/2 miles, i slowed a bit, but not too much and then picked it up again for the last 1/2 mile - with about a 1/4 mile left - I pushed as hard as I could...

Lynryd Skynryd was taking me through my 2 miles - three songs was what it took. All Hard driving!

I could tell I ran that time it wasn't a 'jog' - I felt like it would be a 5k race pace, still not fast; but exertion level was good for the short distance.

I'm off tomorrow.. but will continue on this trek - Feel free to jump in and join me in my journey!

May I join in too??

I am not starting my half training until Feb I believe ( the half is the middle of May) but I am currently building my mileage back up after having it cut due to a nasty IT injry last spring....

Ran 3 last night (Tuesday) and then came home and did a half hour coreworkout.

Today is a rest and tomorrow I run 4. My mileage for this wk will end up being 17miles. IT has been since last May since I have ran that much....I am so excited!!

Satfix: great job on the runs so far this wk!! I listened to Bon Jovi last night to get me thru....I hate running on teh inside track and that is where I ended up last night due to some very cold weather...should have sucked up and ran outside but it was -6* windchill!! YUCK!!

Crazyfrog: Have a great run today!

4 miles this morning at 'cruise' pace. Felt pretty good by the 3rd mile. The first mile sucked (as they always have).. As my body warmed up and began to get accustomed to the pace, I settled in and enjoyed the run.

Thus far, week one is going fine. Tomorrow night is the tempo run (3) miles. Then sunday the long run - schedule says 5 miles - my goal will be one hour as I don't really have a 5 mile route. Thats really a eye opener on how far I have to go to get back in shape - but it'll be a good barometer! I didn't get out of shape over night, so I won't get back into shape over night either!

Still room here for partners on this trek!

4th run of the week - I did approx 3 miles this morning. First mile and a bit was just warm up. After which I pushed harder through the rest of the run - Overall run was harder than a 'cruise' run yet slower than my 2 mile hard run. (is this making any sense?)

After finishing strong to 3 miles, I cooled down by walking the mile back to the house. Stretched a bit - 15 minutes after the finish of the run, I'm still sweating pretty good.

Temps today are in the 60's I'm guessing with a good head wind. This isn't Iowa for sure - today in Iowa there's an ice storm.

Tomorrow is my long run - will go an hour to finish my first week of my route back

Hey! I'm going to try a run tomorrow if i'm feeling up to it. Probably 3 miles because I haven't run since Tuesday and that was a piss-poor treadmill run with some walking. The TM bores me so much I lose motivation more easily. There was a television and a headset even, and I was able to select the channel, but it didn't help. I would like to run before the snow starts tomorrow. We'll see how that goes.

I despise treadmills!

I'd rather run in 10below weather and a blizzard than a treadmill...

BUT - you get out there tomorrow and let us know how you do! I need someone to join me on this trek!!!

Well, week 1 is in the bank.

Just finished my hour run - It was hard going for the first half as I went out last night. I left dehydrated from the indulgence of Jim Beam and Coke last night - combined with a poor nights sleep - made for a hard row to hoe. BUT I did it none the less. My guess is I was just over 5 miles. The last half of the run was much easier as my body adapted to the exercise.

Listened to Earl Klugh - fingerstyle guitarist - all mellow and slow as I wanted to deliberately run as slow as I could to maximize burn and get time on my feet.

Humid today with a bit of sprinkles towards the end; but, it beats the 22 degrees and ice in Des Moines today.

On to week 2 tomorrow!

Did 7.5 miles in 7.5 inches of snow! SHould have only been 7miles but my stupid yaktrax fell off 3x and I had to keep turning around and running back until I found them!! Wasn't my day!! Anyway good run, ITB ached a little so I need to keep it easy this wk. The temp was 15* and the windchill -10*, but I sucked it up and got out there!! Felt good when I was out there and I really enjoyed the run!!
