Hey all.

I lost my firefighter's cherry last night.

Got my first call and it was a doozy. 3 AM, car accident with entrapment. Rescue helicopter and all. Got back in at 5 or so and am now somehow back up about to go meet my running club. Not sure how far or how long I'll make it but I'll be there.

Have a great Sat. everyone.

I was up at 4 for no apparent reason, watched Ugly Betty from my dvr, then went back to bed. Just got up again, so I'm feeling ok.

I'm meeting up with my friend Dave today to walk...Dave's dad is dying of cancer and living at home with him, and it's an awful situation. I'm glad I'm getting to see him, since I haven't in months. It's been very hard on Dave, as you can imagine.

Got a lot to do today, otherwise as well...we need to frame a bunch of DH's photos so he can exhibit them in a couple of local shops, and then I've got to get over to the theatre to pull a bunch of costumes. I got lucky with costumes...2 local theatres are lending me a bunch of stuff!!! Plus I'm hoping to get over to another prof theatre this week to see about renting some from them. The more I can get without having to come up with my own ideas, the better. As it is, I'm gonna have to design some anyway...there's just too many scenes where we need multiples of the same costume. But I've got some good ideas...it's all good!

LL, when you read the first line of your post...I thought it some kinda hazing and I was worried...I can be a dope sometimes.

Have a great day everyone!

a weary good morning to all. I didn't rest very well last night so I forsee a nap sometime today that will compensate. A bit of hopeful news at work. We were supposed to go in from 2-7 for the employer who is using our office for interviews. Well last night it was so slow their supervisor told them they (and thus we could) leave early. You would know 2 people walked in mere moments after he said that and they took 45 minutes to fill out applications and get interviewed..... but he told them as soon as it slows down on Saturday to hit the road. I am so hoping I get a call not to come in or if I do have to go in we can leave in an hour or so. Cross your fingers for me!

Morning Gang -

LL - it will be interesting to hear your stories as you go out on calls, and what affect they have on you. I'm sure they make one appreciate life and family much more.

Moe - enjoy your walk with your friend. I'm sure he appreciates having someone to talk to. Tough times.

I'm heading to Michaels to buy my cake decorating supplies and might do a test cake later today. Kids are excited about that!

Have a good weekend everyone!

Morning!!!

Just got back from walking Gus a few miles. He really needed it. Especially since he ate half my cake last night. Literally. An 8'' round layer between him and Jack. I'm not at all happy about this. Besides that I don't want them to get sick, Gus has never pulled anything off the cupboard before. I didn't catch him in the act, so I can't correct him for it either. So now I've got to catch him thinking about it and change the behavior...

Luckily, it was my fake german chocolate cake (freshly baked & cooling on the rack) so there wasn't any actual chocolate in it. They're both ok, just have pudding poop today.

Which leads me to....

I know, gross segue, but I couldn't resist.

Probably. Not quite a custard, not quite jello. Maybe I just had bad flan.

I don't like cool whip or whipping cream either.

ug. me too. Woke up at 3am to go potty, and then couldn't get back to sleep because I was worried about the boys having eaten that cake. I couldn't hear Gus shifting around on the landing, and they didn't bark when the newspaper van went by... I was a little anxious about what I'd find when I got up this morning.

What's that other one that always gets played at funerals? On Eagles Wings or soemthing like that? I hate that song because it makes me cry. Even if can hold it together the rest of the service, that song always gets me.

I'd rather they play something fun that will make people smile at mine, thankyouverymuch.

Morning all, at my gym taking a short rest period after our group workout this morning. Meh. About to run in a bit.

Ailarie sending some weekend fun vibes your way!

Larry I'd like to do flight medicine at some point, transporting NICU babies hopefully. I have friends that are paramedics and they say some of those crash scenes are pretty rough. I have to tell you though, being in a code situation is some insane rush. It's great to have team type of people that know how to work under pressure at your back. I bet you'll fit very well and will be under control in the type of situations you'll end up in. When the tough calls come, and they will, hang in there and know you have support here.

Moe When you're dealing with something like what your friend is dealing with the very best thing in the world is someone you know you can tell all your thoughts to. I am certain he appreciates that you're there. Pretty awesome.

Maples Sorry to hear ya didn't rest well last night. I bet it was cause you were dreamin' of chasing me across Bama. Tired huh? :p You better get your sorry butt out there and run today! That's an order! Seriously, get some rest. I get to claim slowest runner in our southern group, not you!

RFTL that sounds like a lot of fun. Let us know how the cake turns out!

Katholeenie Very cute pic. I'll have to look into scanning in a baby pic soon.

It's been a long week for me. Work has been pretty darn intense both days and my mouth is taking the slow heal route after the root removal from Wed. I miss food.

Took care of our tiniest baby the 320 gramer on Thursday. She was "stable" (for her) until about 15 minutes before shift change (of course) then she wanted to have a little fun with us. Long story short, full code chest compressions and Epi times three (which I pushed in fast per orders and scared me half to freakin' death doing it on a baby that small when someone else pulled it up and handed it to me and my mind is screamin' five rights) It was one of those shifts where you're walking out and someone looks at you and says, you are coming back tomorrow, right? And you look back at them with big eyes, take a deep breath, pause, then say in almost a whisper, right.

On second thought, RFTL, can we start a bakery together? I can bake!

OK, so it's been 10 years since we've had snow, so everyone is loosing their minds. Delta canceled our flight to ATL so we're not going to Orlando today. We're rebooked on the first flight in the morning direct to Orlando and then on to Mouseland.
