I have snow removaling to do after work.

Intending to run 2 miles outside this a.m. after I drop off DS and before I go to an appointment. I'm starting up some counseling sessions for DS because I am clearly not getting the job done. And he needs help. The first appointment is parent only.

My legs feel okay after last night's hill work. I thought they'd be a little sore this morning. It's just odd that the only time my muscles get sore from running are trail runs and marathons. Weight training will do it every. time. though.

OK gotta get moving here. Stay safe and warm snowed in people!

Sometimes being a good parent means knowing when to get outside help. Hang in there - sounds like you are doing the right thing.

Tonya - nice work. I haven't done a fartlek in years. How many minutes on/off do you do? I may try one soon.

Bi/Tri work done. Core will be done when I don't have a belly full of cereal. I have not run in 2 weeks now, due to the pre and post tooth extraction issues. Swelling/sensitivity is almost gone now, so I am hopeful I can get back on the TM soon. I have a HM in 32 days, damnit! Enough downtime already! :)

Morning all! I put off a run this morning until the snow got cleared up a bit more, shouldn't be a problem running on the path along the Hudson this evening as it's not that cold here and Bloomberg made it a point to have the plows out asap this time around. If I hear a good report about Central Park I'll head there for some hill repeats.

Tonya, fun on the fartlek!

Litch – looking at your pics on FB, CT clearly got way more snow than the city

Hood to Coast was such fun last night! Our teams for the spring edition of RTB are SUPER pumped up and those that haven't run a relay before are even more jazzed. The movie itself was put together nicely, gave some background of this particular race and the rules in running a relay and then profiled several teams all running for different reasons. The scenery was most excellent as well, gotsta get myself out to OREGON!!

Snow day! And the best part -- I got the text during HTC last night, so I turned off my alarm before I went to bed. Sweet.

HTC was good -- but the interviewing before was too long. Get the show started! The movie itself made me really reminisce about the time I spent in Portland. That was both a good and bad thing. They did a good job of showing the beauty of Oregon and the fun of the relay. I want that girl Rachel (the one in the HTC movie poster with the lightning bold headband) to come hang out with my friends -- she was a riot!

Shovelled out my car already this morning. Planned rest day from running, so I'm heading out for some sledding with my nephews in a bit and then hitting the pool for a swim later.

I really really want to run Eugene but I just don't think this May is my time. I've created what I hope is a temporary aversion to marathons although I do think I'll be planning on a 50K this spring. Gotta get myself to love 26.2 again and to hope it'll return the love. :)

Appointment went well. The guy seems good, though pretty stereotypical psych guy, goatee and glasses and he's periodically take of his glasses and plant the edge of the earpiece on his lip and look pensive, then he'd say hmm and stroke his goatee. But it seemed legit not posed, . The inital visit was to determine who would see DS and the guy I saw said he'd like to see "this rascal". For some reason, that sealed the deal for me, I think this guy will be okay.

Ran a couple miles outside before the appointment and it felt so good to be outside. Even though the footing was dicey in areas and it was friggen cold. And two miles? Just as I'm warmed up it's over. Boo. And then I had to hit the shower right away before my thighs could thaw a little so I got the red hot thighs of fire that itch and burn. I hate that!

Was there a thread that included everyone's race plans to date for 2011? I thought there was.

morning

Well, I TRIED to do some hill repeats yesterday. It had snowed about 2-3 inches during the day and none of the hills had been touched by the plow so after 1 attempt at a 16 min mile and slippering everywhere, I said screw it and just ran 5.5. sigh. I also got made fun of by 8 year old girls. Nice. Just the ego boost I need.

Trying to run 6-8 after work. My legs, feet and left knee are all sorts of craptastic after 2 days on slush. we'll see

Hood to coast - I liked it but wish they would have spent more time on the race vs. the back stories. That old woman freaked me out with her eye makeup.

Cindi - which theater were you in? We were originally in 8 but ended up going into 5 with better seats because we were way up front too. We ended up dead center 2nd row off the bar.

Lora - yep this theater has assigned seats. It rocks. also, there are 2 theaters there that have VIP balconey level where you CAN DRINK BEER FROM THE BAR.

See, I never go to movies. BUT, if my theater served beer and you can sit right there, I'd go more! (And I agree, Brandy -- that lady's eye makeup weirded me out, too.)

Fitness for the day: 1 hour of shoveling/clearing car + 1 hour pulling the kids a couple blocks on the sled and then sledding down the hill over and over + 2500 solid yards of swimming in the pool.

Oh, and I'm refinancing my mortgage and that's exercise in itself. So much paperwork to gather and email/fax/etc, plus meeting w the appraiser (happy w/that result though), plus phone calls about logistics. Worth it when it's all said and done, I'm sure, but ooof. I had no idea it was almost as much work as buying the house.

I just checked out the extended forecast for January and it's pretty much alternating between cold, frigid and bitterly cold for the rest of January. <gloom>

I'm checking online for interesting treadmill workouts. The hill one I did last night was based on one I saw on the Runner's World site - it wasn't exactly the same because I didn't try and commit it to memory, but it was along the same lines.

I realize this is late in the day so perhaps I'll ask again tomorrow, but does anyone have any treadmill workouts they do and like?

I loathe the TM so I don't have a ton of advice on workouts for it specifically but I was thinking that you could try something like this although it would require you to have some space beside the TM to do the other exercises. I loved this workout! Jill provided the original workout from a link on a running website (cannot recall which and cannot seem to find it via Google or her blog) but you cycle through it a couple times and do various exercises.
