Knowing you both, you had plenty of common ground and would have become fast friends. It seems to me that one of his endearing traits was to see past the differences in opinions, lifestyles and personal experiences. It is fairly amazing that in all of your travels you two never were in the same place at the same time.

I'm new here, but I've been lurking for long enough to have "known" Voo through his posts. His passing has been foremost on my mind since yesterday. Others have said it all so much better than I can, but he was so full of life - kind and fun and thoughtful and strong. He touched SO many people, and I know that there are probably three times the number of posters lurking and being as affected by his loss as I am. He was an incredible spirit, and I know he has changed many lives and made the world so much better.

I got out there and ran today, because Voo would have. I've constantly struggled with sticking with it, but I want to be a runner to honor his spirit. WWVD? He would git 'er done, and I can too.

Jenna, I'm so sorry for your loss. RIP, Joe. You made the world better by being you, and we'll continue to spread what you taught us.

From My Man, by the Eagles:

"I once knew a man, very talented guy
He's sing for the people and people would cry
They knew that his song came from deep down inside
You could hear it in his voice and see it in his eyes

And so he traveled along, touch your heart, then be gone
Like a flower, he bloomed till that old hickory wind
Called him home

My man's got it made
He's gone far beyond the pain
And we who must remain go on living just the same
We who must remain go on laughing just the same"

Wow. Just got back and it's really sad news.
Voodoo seemed like a larger than life guy, hard to believe he can be gone. He was a good guy. Hope his family finds peace.

I have been on a mountaintop in Tennessee for the past 4 days.

This isn't what I ever expected to find here.

I've been absent from the PRT lately, and missed this sad news until Roots broke it to me yesterday while I was travelling.

I am stunned and saddened. I was very much looking forward to seeing Voo this weekend. He was definitely one of the good guys.

Here's to ya, Joe.

VooDoo was one of the few people I regularly imagined running with. Don't know why I used to do that, but I did and it always made the runs a little bit easier. I guess imagining I was running beside a dread-locked tank was distracting to me.

He was a great guy.

I am saddened by this loss and I can only send a prayer to those of you who knew him better. I only know of him through his posts, mostly at CR. I thought highly of his wit, insight and I felt compelled to share my sincere sense of loss.

Too young.

I'm just so darned ..... disappointed

wayyyyyyyyyyyyyy to early for him ..... I feel like I'm more sad than I have a right to be, considering I only got to meet him once and never really had a 'thing' with him even online ... but ... I feel how I feel ...

.... just like a lot of "US"

*edited to say that 'thing with him' just meant no PMing or chatting or such things ... not ... well, you know

the PRT is not somewhere to drop my morals and ethics and roll in the mud and muck and pretend those I am talking to aren't really people at all and it's alright to treat them like dirt.
