For the first several days while you're protected, spend resources developing your resource production only - do it evenly, and spend resources on nothing else... except crannies.

You'll want to develop enough cranny space to cover all your resources, plus 25% (to deter Teutons), so that when you go "bare" you won't be an attractive target. (You'll have to raise one to level 10 before you can develop a second or third cranny. (Don't develop more than three - you'll need those building spaces later.)

It should take you about 3-4 weeks to get all your resources up to level 7. Once you hit that threshold, start building your structures - main building, rally point, barracks, and then start building up your military.

DUDE! Focus on nothing but resource building for the first month. Troops are a waste at that level because you don't have enough to do any good raiding and it's easy for them to get wiped out.

On my planet, 4 weeks is just about a month.
