I do enjoya good Michael Chrichton novel- but he does tend to get a little preachy...

I didn't think this one was preachy at all. Just a book about pirates and revenge.

I also finished Exit Ghosts by Phillip Roth.

I thought I'd give him another shot after "The Plot Against America", and I was frankly disappointed. Phillip Roth had two main plots - Septuagenarian Nathan Zuckerman pursuing a romance with a 30 year old woman, and Nathan Zuckerman finding his friendship blossoming into a romance with a recovering cancer survivor his own age.

One plot was sweet and delightful. One plot was weird and creepy. Take a guess which was sweet, which was creepy.

I found myself dreading the place in each chapter when it would switch back to the creepy romance. Pretty much ruined the book for me.

Oh, and regarding Eat, Pray, Love: I didn't hate her but didn't love her either. I enjoyed many parts of the book - especially the acorn to oak tree at the end. I give it 3/5.

I haven't been able to get back to this book yet. It sure isn't grabbing my attention. Maybe over the weekend I can try it again. But by then I won't finish it before it is due. It is a 14 day book with a wait list so I cant renew it.

I finally bit the bullet and gave up on An Echo in the Bone.

Now I have to go looking through the books my friend gave me and see what I want to try.

Read it!

I've read a bunch of Stirling's stuff. It tends to have far more detail than I'm interested in, but the stories are interesting.

The first one was very good. I just got going on this one yesterday and I am struggling with keeping track of who everyone is.

I thought they killed the Walker dude in the first one but I guess I mis-read it. I need to go back and look the ending.

I remembered this morning that one of the heroes that was fighting walker got whacked in the head and more or less knocked out and he and his band of "traitors" took off running.
