I climbed Camilien-Houde on my bike today for the first time this year ... slow but steady but I didn't die. Much stronger than when I climbed it for the first time last year, that's for sure. Thanks for the DQ sugar boost, TB!
Last night I ran 13k then pigged out on Pizzadelic pizza.
I ran the "cemetery circuit" this morning from the TMR old Town Hall. Up along the tracks to Rockland overpass, up deCourcellette and over to the Mt. Royal Cemetery to the upper gates. Wanted to go further but time wouldn't allow it. Ran back past the U of M Sportplex and down Wilderton! Reminded me of Boston. ( oh hush, aching quads! ) 50 minutes of true joy!
Actually DR, I was up but rarely have time to go on-line until I'm at work. Ran at Bois-de-Liesse Nature Park this morning, doing the perimeter in about 44 minutes at a relatively easy pace! Quiet and cool, just the way I like it!
I was up also. I had a tough night. I've been up since 2. It's going to be a long day...
Yeah Merc, the weather was super this morning. I was out the door at 4:20 to do my favorite workout, a progression run. From practically a walking start, I slowly sped up to a hard finish around 4 min/K for the last kilometer.
Can't wait to do runs like this in some lighter shoes.
KZ: Ran intervals with them this morning. I'm getting used to them and difference in weight definitely noticeable. My heel does not hurt and I've been more mindful of how my feet land. The transition period is shorter that I anticipated and this is definately money well spent. My only concern is how they will perform out on the road. I'm concerned that such a light construction will result an ankle twisting. I'll have to work on balance exercises to prevent against that.
Good stuff. I love those slow start fast finish runs.
What race are you running next?
I'm thinking of the Step up for the children Standard Life 10km on June 14th? There is 10km run and a 5km walk
Took my new kayanos for a slow hood spin this evening. Name it, it was happening. Soccer, rugby, frisbee, softball game, couple of guys tossing a football back and forth in the street ? Folks walking their dogs. The only thing missing was a marching band. I discovered a ball park next to the cookie factory...now that could be a problem…sitting in the bleachers with the smell drifting over from next door, something like watching tv in the evening after you’ve had your dinner and the restaurant ads come on. Older guys playing, I slowed down to watch a pop fly to the guy on 3rd. Lots of action, noise from the street cleaners kicking up dust, the commuter train barreling through the crossing at St Louis, cop car with lights blazing on a street where a woman knifed her roomy to death the week I got back from Miami …I wasn’t sure what was going on…do I turn around, or sllowwwly waddle through hopefully avoiding a drug bust. They had pulled over a car and as I went by the driver was grumbling to his companion, as it was getting dark I made for home. Did I mention, lots and lots of traffic ? Sally, won’t be able to make it tomorrow evening, munchkin has a rehearsal at school. How is the training coming along ? Merc – aren’t you the one who had some aches and pains to take care of when you got back from Boston ?
Salut Gag, don’t know if you’re telling me to put my long winded comments on a blog – in a nice way or that I should really contemplate a blog. I don’t have the writing talent that some of the folks here do but some women friends did mention that some of my family, kids, every day escapades would be right for a blog.
Back to running, not for me today, shame, the weather is great for it. While waiting for little df to come out of rehearsal this evening, next to the bicycle path/track, lots of runners going back and forth..last efforts for Ottawa perhaps. Anyone here run today ? Have a nice evening everyone - one tired 'fly
Finally ran with Phoenix at the Jetty, last night. First time since last summer. Did 4 x 1K, each in 3:34 with a 500m "active" jog rest. Tough but manageable! My right foot was on fire though. A great concern. McGill Sports Med on Tuesday after work....here we go again.
