Hang in there guys, it's supposed to be sunny tomorrow... But what an otherwise yucky weekend. At least I was sick and couldn't take advantage of the outside much anyway...

Who's racing next when? Anyone doing Whiteface?

Cool and misty this morning. Ran with BF and PS. It was fun considering it was my first long run since my cold and knee issue. Followed my usual route off the island and return by the J-C bridge. The is construction gonig on the access ramp so we took stairs up the bridge tower. That was different, that what I expected. Ah.. my first J-C bridge run of the year. It was wonderful. This is definitely the first of many J-C bridge runs.

PS and BF returned to the gym afterwards and I headed toward Lafontaine park and back to Mont Royal. Calves were muddy and shoes were soaked but all in all, lots of fun to be had.

Roly: Take care of yourself.
DR: Hope you're feeling better. Hmm... Whiteface. Sounds interesting. Buit in all fairness, I should be focusing more on long runs.

Have a good one.

TB

TB: just got back from mother`s day celebration dinner (yes, mother`s day is next wee)... And I've been hit by an insulin-induced coma... Luckily the nasal congestion went away in time for me to taste the food...

Another week guys, lâche pas...

Is it Friday yet?

Very sore foot following this mornings tempo run at the Y. 6:40 per mile pace with very high heart rate (180bpm) Amazing how much conditioning you lose taking two weekicon_salut.gifs off! Didn't feel tough though.....strange!

I want to abolish Mondays, franchement. And where the heck was this lovely sunshine on the weekend ?
Ran both on Saturday and Sunday evening in my area, 45 min and 30 minutes. Slow waddles, listening to music, checking things out …huge ship in the locks, attractive fellow at the track, biggrin.gif lots of folks walking a variety of pooches, lots of big dogs in my neighbourhood. Low energy weekend, maybe the gray, overcast weather did me in. confused.gif
DR, are you still doing that race you mentioned last week ? Roly - take care. TB, nice to see you pick up your Sunday morning run with your mates, plse say hi when you see them again. Mercury – still going to Ottawa ?

Roly, I love you. Ever since you mentioned running in the evening, I've decided to give it a try. Takes significantly more time to feel the stiffness and tonight (2nd evening run), I had my first genuinely pain-free run in two year!! I mean I didn't feel ANY stiffness or pain and not from a lack of searching... you know how I'm skeptical about everything...

Thanks !!!

DF: yep doing the race... if only my blading buddy could find his skates after moving last month... I'll probably just have to wing it... Too dangerous to blade around here!

Least the sun came back.... imagine having to trudge through the rain to get to work... to sit there wet and gloomy for hours without end?

Had an entire Red Snapper grilled on the BBQ tonight... Ok, I shared with two other people... YUMMY!

Had a lovly but tough morning run from TMR track to the top of the University of Montreal this A.M. Tough hill. Quads are still sore as is the foot but I love the Wilderton route. Used to do it 10 years back when I started my second running career while working at Carlyle school, near Gro's place.icon_salut.gif

Beautiful day for a run today after work. It was my first track workout since my cold and knee issue. I'm slowly getting back into the swing of things. Ran with my new shoes for the first time today and they were definitely a good purchase.

Have a good one.

I'm back on track too, but not doing tracks yet. I'm enjoying my second week of real training in a row and I love it. No intensity yet, I'll give it a try next week. I'm just wandering in the botanical garden which is blossoming. I just love springbanana.gif

mornin' everyone, Gag, lucky you, the botancial gardens.. smile.gif, I waddled up to the lake yesterday after work, no energy to go any further, very busy at work these last couple of weeks.

Lots of folks around, on bike, on foot...I walked around the lake, it was really windy. One lone mallard, no mate in sight, had his head tucked in under a wing..two small boys busy feeding the "goldfish?", one of the tots was making his mom anxious cause he kept teetering on the very edge..and that water sure don't look to clean.

Ran back down, headed home. Short waddle but good for the head space nevertheless. 'fly

DR: After being bed ridden for three days with my cold, I went for a walk I felt a weird sensation in my right knee on my way to a friends house. I went for a light jog the next day and my knee issue made itself known. I skipped track and tempo runs that week and continued with 45 minute slow start-fast finish runs. Things are holding up and my confidence is returning.

Merc: I decided to try a lower profile shoe: Asics Hyperspeed.

http://www.asicsamerica.com/products...Y_ID=250001546

Different feel. It'll take a while to get used to them.

Best

Hey TB,

Those are seriously light shoes. 6.6 ounces?! What were you running with before the hyperspeeds?

I am considering some more minimalist shoes also, but thinking more like the Asics DS Trainers. I think I would have to take a gradual approach.

Roly, no more 4 a.m. posts?

I sleep in until 4:30 am now!

Grommit, try my plan, wait until your 75% healed then go out and build lots of miles quickly until it hurts again. blush.gif

hey Kingsley, we wake up at the same time. Congrats you sleepyhead!

Ninja.....I am not sure those shoes are gonna help if you have knee issues. Might make matters worse. Sort of like Grommit steeplechasing over rocks on the mountain.
