Weekend Workouts: Jan 2-3, 2016

Morning all!
heading out to get much needed groceries and other errands and then will hop on the trainer this afternoon...

Time to get to it!

Oh and I pulled the trigger New Year's Eve and signed up for a sprint tri in June...first full tri in almost two years! Eep!

Zoj - happy to hear your desire to race is baack!!

7 miles with DH. Wind was cold on the way back. Legs weren't as dead as I thought they would after yesterday's tempo run.

I'm renewing my efforts to cook healthier food. What's your plan?

Happy Saturday!!! Christmas decorations put away, Chisel balance (OMG) and 3.5 mile run done. Now off to the grocery store!

YoSake: I am pretty closely following the 21 day fix portion food plan starting Monday. It's a great program and easy to follow, just requires lots of planning

We just took the tree down and I'm watching DW pack up the decorations. It's better to let her do it, I would just screw it up. I haven't totally figured out how to avoid the work, but I'm getting close.

I need to drop 20 lbs before Boston. Plan to accomplish that by eating less, eating healthier and cutting back on the alcohol.

Joined Horndog, Jay and the rest of the Boston training crew this morning. Never felt good and got dropped on the first hill of the run, did pretty much the entire run solo. Glute and hips weren't horrible until the last 2 miles. 14.2 miles @ 8:08 pace.

I also need to refocus on my exercises to strengthen the glutes and core. Did 15 min of Jay Johnson's Pedestal routine after the run today.

To answer Yo Sake's question - whole 30 (ish) starting monday for at least 3 weeks...I say ish as I am allowing coffee w/milk once a day....but sticking to everything else.

40 min on the trainer and short set of pushups and abs...something I need to be consistent about starting this month and going forward....

Howdy all! Welcome to 2016!

It looks like everyone has some solidly awesome goals and we are all feeling a little fuller than we would like.

I'm starting the year with muscle spasms in my back (no biggie, just annoying), so all I've done are planks and bridges. I've made a 100 day goal plan which should get me through the dark and dreary wintertime. First race of 2016 will be late April (5 mile trail run).

Sparty: Healing vibes to you!!!!

Hammer Conditioning and Chisel abs. Loving this new program!!! I have dedicated myself to weekly strength training for the last year and the improvement in my arthritis flare ups in my knees has been amazing.

Go Pats!!!!!!!!!!!!! Back to work and school for the kids tomorrow. I am ready to get back into the routine!

Julie - wooohoooo on the positive effects on your arthritis by the workouts you do! I am with you re being ready to go back to the routine.

Alicia - hope the spasm will be gone soon

10miles done. Went out solo but literally ran into Mark so we ran together for 30min or so (he was on his way home in his 10miler), which helped my solo run. Legs tired but that's how this plan has you feel. Wk3, 45 miles week done!

Yo Sake - nice!

Julie - what is hammer & chisel like? Part of the Beachbody family right?

4.3 miles today...I did time it, but haven't looked yet. Gave myself a week of untimed runs and may even stretch that for the rest of the month...not sure. I think, while I need the time on my feet, I need the mental break of looking at my pace...

Back to work tomorrow...ugh.

Yes, It's a brand new program called the Master's Hammer & Chisel. It's a combo of Body Beast trainer Sagi Kalev and 21 Day Fix Autumn Calabrese. I just finished week 2 and I love it!

It's 6 days a week, SSP training (strength, stabilization & power). Balance work, strength, agility, cardio, light and heavy weights, so much variety, 30-40 minute workouts.

Saturday was 1 hour beech on trainer road and some strength work. Focusing this year on getting strength work in 2x/week.
Sunday 10.25 miles with N2 in 10:36 so a slightly less than 9:30 pace. She had something to say the whole time so the miles flew by. She is looking to BQ in the next few years. I have no doubt she can do it.
