2 hour bike, 1 hour walk/run. If we're counting tonight, I have a short-ish swim (2600 m)

28miles on dirt road to DS's XC meet. Felt like headwind for the entire way. Hope I took a good care of that for you! DS didn't have a good race but still dug deep and did his best.

I had a great race!!! PR by 1 hour 7 minutes for an ironman. Even adding in another .5 mile for a the swim would have put me at my goal of 14 hours and likely my stretch goal of 13 hours 45 min.

I'm not a real RR type person but will say I felt all your support out there on course and throughout my training cycle. THANK YOU!!! It takes a village and you are my villagers. I may put something together for a RR but don't hold your breath since I don't know CPR and can't help you out there. ) Some highlights:

Swim: Water temp was 64 and perfection. I could have swam all day. Long sleeve wetsuit and booties were perfect. I swim better in short chop than bigger waves. Good learning. Never felt panic at all during swim and was calm entering the water. The 2 week delay calmed me quite a bit. Was able to mostly find my own water and not get real beat up. 1 light hit to side of face and someone grabbed my butt but otherwise no real contact. Course kept getting changed during the morning waiting to start. Start delayed until 7:30.First time ever could not see course and know where I was going when I got in the water. Flew blind but it seemed to work that day. Do not recommend as a policy however. Did delay me at the turnaround for 2nd loop. Water was really shallow near turnaround and coming in to finish. First time ever dolphin dived into finish since it was faster than walking or swimming. Thanks Robin for practicing these with me early in the season.

T1: Saw Jocelyn when entered change tent. changed near her. She was just ahead of me out of the water. We started together so I felt really good with the result. Had worn swimsuit for swim which I had not originally planned to do but glad I did. I would have been too cold. It was cold getting into the wind and cold air temp. Tri shorts, sport bra, arm warmers, long sleeved shirt and team bike shirt. Kept this outfit in full for entire ride with never being too hot or too cold. Run in and out was long too so a 14+ min was long for me. Saw H and Kitty at mount line. They were awesome.

Bike: WIND WIND WIND WIND WIND Did I mention it was windy. This course could not be any flatter. Without the wind I think I could have rode it faster but I did meet my 17 mph goal pace with certain portions at 19+ mph. The course is very nice with great road conditions. Hip did act up. Felt better after stopping for bike special needs bag. Adrenaline and stubbornness are amazing qualities for this type of event. By the last 10 miles though I was done with the bike. I sang Fight Song by Rachel Platten in my head a few times when my thoughts got dark. The wind was totally crappy.

T2: No bike handlers so we all racked our own bike which is unusual but not a problem at all. Changed just my shirt to short sleeve but kept arm warmers on. Loaded up nutrition and was on my way in 8.5+ mins. Woot!

Run: H and Kitty ended up volunteering at run special needs which you hit very soon after leaving T2. Stopped to hug and kiss H and then went on my way. Felt really good. Apparently I feel better and run better after riding hard. Good learning this season. Just did my thing. Course structure allowed us (trifury racing peeps) to see each other many times throughout the run which was great. Saw Jocelyn during loop 1 who screamed cheers at me and caused quite a laugh for those running near me at the time. Also did the same during my loop 2 with the same effect. Lots more stories here but suffice to say I was in a good place in my head. Saw B and Kitty just after passing transition area heading into town for short end of loop 1 and stopped to hug them both. H's words of the day to me at several points were 'you're crushing it' which told me I was doing ok. I wore a watch but only looked at it after the swim, 2 miles into run to plan nutrition at 13 - 14 miles into run to assess goal possibility and at end. He insisted that I crushed the bike split when I asked. Overall, my best ironman marathon by 40 minutes and the best I've felt out there for this portion of an ironman in my 3 time racing this distance.

Overall, so much to say and not enough or the right words to really express it all. So thankful and proud of myself. That sounds weird to write but I know I did this for me and no one else and I really feel like I executed as I wanted. No regrets and very few what ifs in my head.
