Wed Sept 30 - workouts!

Last day of Sept! Yikes.

Sparty/Beth - yes, patience, patience. You will get there.

Had a solid 2-hr dirt road ride yesterday. I don't recall when was the last time riding with the intensity for 2hrs pretty much straight (well, with a few min. break in the middle). I can't be lazy or afraid of challenging myself like that.

5 miles under a beautiful fall sun. Got to walk here and there, legs were toasted. Not sure what I want to do after work before kids get home.... maybe practicing Ukulele I brought home from Maui (for DD but I am playing).

Easy 40 minutes ellipticating for me (mid tempo at 8/20 resistance for the entire 40 mins). Back is still sore-ish, so didn't want to push it.

I did end up doubling up the seacoast century (as FB friends will have seen) - so that makes 5 years in a row. May have to do something else next year! Both days felt like kind of a slog - partly because of the back, and partly because of wind (headwind on Saturday was particularly brutal). Averaged low-mid 16s on both days (but second day was faster than first).

The most impressive thing I saw was some guy doing the full century on Saturday on an Elliptigo. Not sure how it compares effort-wise to riding (he seemed to be going about 13-15 avg), but it seemed like he had to maintain more effort than simply cycling - as well as not being able to sit, and being out there for a longer time. Oh - and he'd also done a hilly century on the thing the week before. Apparently he uses it to cross-train for running more than anything.

Finally - Beth, forgot to mention that I went to West Chester w/DD earlier this year (to visit West Chester U). Nice town you live in! (though she didn't like the school much).

Cheers all,

Geo - good to 'see' you, nice work on the double.
Yoshiko - the workouts sound lovely!

Learned a bit more about my test results. Some good, some not so great. Seems that the prolapse has led to regurgitation (blood pooling) plus have some ventricular contractions going on. All fairly minor for now, but things to monitor. I have an appt with a cardiologist in a few weeks to find out more.

Some yoga later though my arm hurts from my flu shot!

Attempted an OWS but alas 48degree water said no. Fearing the end of OWS is nigh...

- If you think you can't, you're right.
- Just because you can, doesn't mean you should.
- REJOICE and Whine not! For today you are doing that which most only dream.
