Masters swim this morning that included a lot of 11 position drills for freestyle. 2000m total. I'm still lifting my head a little too much so I worked on keeping my eyes directly on the bottom of the pool with a relaxed neck. Of course this is now causing me to drop my arms too much before I pull but my coach said that we'll work on one thing at a time.

Next Wednesday I see the sports doc for my achilles.

Julie: I'm always hungry after swimming and have to bring breakfast #2 in the car for the drive home!

Fitness center workout for me ... new elliptical record for standard workout (6.34 miles in 40 minutes ... 40-75% resistance in 5 min increments). 6:18 ellipti-pace. Woo-hoo!

Not been a particularly good showing for bike to work week though. Ah well ... still 3 days left.

Geo.

Fit Rev Fit Cross class for 45 this a.m. Lots of plank and push up related work. Ouch! Swimming after work tonight. 1800 Drills and threshold 300s.

ksurp: Will be at woodstock inn brewery thursday and friday leaving saturday morning. Not sure you are near there. Bummed about achilles as I would have loved to ride with you or run with you if it were accessible and possible.
Julie: Nothing to add to great bike advice you already got. Good luck with those knees though. I'm sure you'll figure it out.
Geo: No funny elliptical phrasing today?? Will be biking through your area up to Bartlett NH over the long weekend on Saturday. Route not certain but maybe we'll see you out with the bagelry group.
Sparty: You are killing it! Way to go. Good luck with the track and field reffing. I'll be waiting for that hug. I have a 24 hour trail race 25-26 and a HS grad party for a friend's some that weekend but I'm sure we can work something out when you are in Boston. When do you fly in and fly out?
Cak: You go the medium thing going! I can feel a good thing for you at Am Zof this coming weekend.
Zo: Welcome back!
Yoshiko: I admire your ability to fit so much into a single day.
Ronbo: Challenge Maine this year? Good luck this weekend!
Neimsco: Good luck this weekend too and IMCDA WOW!! I love that area and race. I may have to go back at some point to do it again.

We seem to have lost Bannon and Hobey again.

ksurp: You ever roll out your calfs? I've had a few season ending achilles injuries and its always tied to my calfs. I now wear recovery socks a lot and foam roll, and so far the achilles problems haven't resurfaced. Nice swim

Nice work peeps, I did a trainer ride then ran for 15 minutes. Trainer ride went something like this (you can tell someone had to write it down): Overall that took me about 75 minutes.

WU: 10-20:00
1 x 10:00 steady at 90 - 100 rpm at low Z3
1 x 5:00 easy spin;
Main Set:
5 x 5:00 @ RI 3:00 Steady Zone 3,
Cool Down: 5-15:00 at Z1
Include 6 x 30 sec SLD if indoors

I also hit the pool as I didn't have anything better to do at lunch. I got stuck with the wall, too many people swimming. About 2200m. Some 50s and 200s mostly, then pull with paddles/buoy at the end.

Have a good one!

OMG me too. It also makes me want to pee 87 times within the first hour or two. TMI, I know....

Bleacher workout this morning! Since it was our first one of the year, we kept it easy - only 792 stairs!

Set TM at 12% incline:
o 10 x 2 min @ 11:41 pace w/2 min @ 13:15 recovery jog
o CD - few min as I ramped back down

Great day, friends!

brick
1:30:00 on the trainer riding TrainerRoad's "tioga" [including 5x 9-min intervals as 2-min under-segments (95% FTP) followed by 1-min over-segments (105% FTP); 6 min recoveries between intervals]
2.7 mile run, HR znIII for the first mile, then HR znII

Also, annual mammogram. My mom was diagnosed with breast cancer when she was 56. Her lumps were found only through mammography (she's still cancer-free today).

DOR. Off-site training all day long. Then hurried to get to DS's track meet, just to miss his 1600m. ugh. He didn't know his time, but said photo finish of either 2nd or 3rd.

update: Just found out he ran his PR 5:11.
