Tuesday, February 17th Workouts

40 minutes ellipticating for me (45-75% resistance at 5 min intervals / 6:3x overall elliptic-pace).

Been a slug for a number of days beside snow blowing (again). DD did have HS swim championships on Saturday - so that was enjoyable. Managed 3rd in 100 free / 4th in 100 back, and the team came in first in their division (D2) and set a state relay record (she did back leg). So - all-in-all a good day. She's not where she was pre-injury, but had her best times of the year - so we were pretty happy for her.

Also - the 400 free relay (DD did not swim that) - had just about the best finish I've ever seen. The good guys won by .02 seconds, but the chaser from the second place team probably swam the fastest 100 I've seen in HS/club (it was a 50.xx ...). Our swimmer is pretty good herself - but she must have made up at least 4-5 seconds on her... Pretty amazing.

Hope everyone's doing great! Quiet around here these last couple of days.

Geo.

Good afternoon, TEAM LIT!

Double for me today...

5 mile run early this very cold, slick morning. Wore screw shoes.

Then at noon...

7 mile TM tempo session in 50 min (rougly) with 45 min of work:
o WU - 5 min ramp to 7:30 pace
o 45 min: 3 min @ 6:49 pace 1% + 3 min @ 7:06 pace 3%
o CD - Nothing. Hit stop by accident with my arm swing so I called it quits @ ~44 min into the tempo session.

Great day, friends!

Commute from an otherworldlyplace with lots of fire and brimstone. 3+ hours to get into the office. FitRev Fit Cross class this am. Sleeping Beauty tonight on trainerroad whenever I get home. B away in NY with friend until Thursday so a quiet few nights and hopefully early mornings to get my training mojo back. No swims last week at all. Could not get it together to get to the pool.

Reviewed P&S on new house. Supposed to be done by tomorrow.

5 mile run this morning with 1 mile hard, 1/4 mile recovery, 1 mile hard, 1/4 mile recovery, 1/2 mile hard. Took a while to get the engine going, but at least my intervals got faster as the workout progressed. Plus a sore hammy seems to be lingering longer than I'd like, until I get it warmed up. 15 mile trainer ride with 7 at tempo effort this afternoon, followed by core.

Geo - Great meet! Congrats to your DD and her team.
MQ - I heard it would take some time for the public transportation in Boston to get back to fully operational. Must have been so difficult to deal with... Hang in there..

8.5miles at Univ. of Michigan's indoor track! What a treat. A few friends of mine are regular at the indoor workout hosted by Ann Arbor track club. It takes me 40min to get there so I have been just running in cold or DM in spite of their frequent invitations. Today, however, I just didn't want to run on DM so I finally made it there in spite of the intense snow falling (it took me an hr!). There were prob 40+ runners and most of them were doing the same speed workout. I had my own plan (which my friends told me no problem to do), so stayed at lane 5-6 and did my own 3x2mile at around 8:00-ish pace. I had an idea what the pace/lap time should be at Lane 5 but it wasn't easy to do all kinds of math in my head, and avoiding 40+ runners who were doing 300mx12 intervals! It was nice to run at the real indoor track. I will go back!

MQ: *fingers crossed* your new home purchase continues to go smoothly!

With regard to the power reading from the Garmin Vector pedals or something else?

45 minute easy ride last night. I've got a "recovery week" this week.
