PT this morning. 1 session to go, kind of sad to be losing part of my team, but so grateful of the support they have given and lessons they have taught me!

Happy Hump Day!

Snow flurries today! But, doesn't seem to be accumulating. Even so, traffic on the way into lab this morning was painful.

3100y at masters swim. SO glad I went. It helped keep the rage away during my morning commute. Hoping to run later. Kinda dreading the treadmill, although I am very grateful to have that option. Have just started Game of Thrones Season 4, so there is that to look forward to if I am inside.

200 free, 100 no free
200 free, 100 drill
200 free, 100 kick
50 drill, 50 free

2x through the following (5-10 sec rest, the lane decided to ditch the prescribed intervals and do "lane clear" instead)
75 as 50 1-arm fly, 25 fly
100 free
75 as 25 fists, 25 "ok fingers", 25 back
100 free
75 as 25 flutter kick, 25 dolphin kick, 25 breast
100 free
75 as 25 fly, 25 back, 25 breast
100 free

2x through the following, all on 1:55
100 free, 50 slow-50 fast
100 free, 50 fast-50 slow
100 free, fast*
100 free, slow**

*2nd time through we did as fast-slow-fast-slow
** didn't do this one 2nd time through

Good afternoon, Y'all!

Cak: Traffic has so sucked. Took me 1:55 to get to work this morning. Last week I had a 2+ hour commute not to mention all of the 1:45 jobbies. I should run to work. Would take me about a half hour more.

Geo: Funny stuff with the writing! The cover was sort of blown for me because I saw the picture before I started reading. Silly me.

SwimmerGirl: Dang, hope that shingles stays localized.

Double for me today...

5 mile run early this morning. Roads filled with black ice, but my screw shoes kept me mostly running pace. Speaking of which, I actually had some power in my stride. Definitely a small sign of the dead legs slowly lessening its grip.

Then at noon...

7.5+ mile TM session in 52 mins. Probably more than 7.5 miles but I have a habit of hitting the STOP button when doing intervals. Incline 1%.

o WU - 5 min ramp to 7:30 pace
o 20 min @ 9.0 mph (6:40 pace) w/3 min jog at 7:30
o 20 min @ 9.2 mph (6:31 pace*)
o CD - 2+ min

* Last 10 minutes of second interval I notched up a tenth of a mph here and there probably giving a net average of 6:25 pace for 20 min.

In essence this was 2 x 5K @ a bit faster than MP.

GEO: That was funny!
Thor & Cak: Sorry those commutes sound awful. I am so very, very, thankful I work from home.
SB: Get better soon!
First outdoor run in 10 days. 5 miles at 1PM with the sun beaming down. Pure joy!

Nothing yet but the commute from ****. Probably should have worked from home again. Will do so Friday. MBTA management should all be fired. Entire MBTA system closed yesterday. Who does that? It isn't like we haven't had snow and cold weather before. Even taking all day yesterday to service the things they were still operating on a barely functioning level this a.m. Have a run drill thing on schedule today if I can get home. I may just call it and drink heavily. Day off tomorrow for home inspection. Wish us luck.

Geo - your friend is talented! That was FUNNY.
cak - I like your positive attitude. Way to go for an early AM swim in the middle of the traffic madness.
Thor - happy to hear your legs are getting better. Any marathon (or crazy long distance race) between now and Boston?
Julie - happy to hear your enjoyed the sun. I am sure running outside gives you a great pleasure!
MQ - sorry to hear about the terrible inconvenience caused by MBTA. Have you 'drunk heavily'? Good luck with the home inspection. (I guess snow wouldn't stop certain things....). BTW, I don't think I have ever received a friend request on FB. I am not FB expert and often time don't know what setting/conditions I have set up.

Yep DOR. Received an 1hr massage, first time in like 3 weeks. Feeling so much looser now. Seriously, I didn't think 10weeks ago I could maintain a high volume for several weeks like this. I owe the massage guy big time.
I am so not motivated to do anything for the last few days. Feel like joining MQ for 'drinking heavily'.

MQ and Yosake...hang in there!

Did manage to get on the treadmill after taking Marley for a bit of a longer walk than he's been getting lately since temperatures are supposed to plummet into the negative digits Thursday night. I mean, I had a caramel macchiato Gu before his walk, so I couldn't bag the run and feel okay about it. 3.25 miles at a pokey pace. Would have had to dig a bit deeper than I wanted to/need to at this point in order to get to 4.5 miles. Was trying to make it to 75%, but apparently I still cannot do maths well in my head while I'm running.

1.5 hrs on the Computrainer and then a 15 min brick on the treadmill.. Felt good. Breathing is finally coming along a bit.
