Thursday, December 4

Swimmerbee - clamshell demo (I do them with a resistance band around my knees.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JKYp-XMU9Ks

Thor - sounds like you truly landed your dream house.

I just lost all train of thought...

Oh right, PT yesterday was 'fun.' Planks with my feet in the TRX. I have to bring DD with me and thankfully she is very well behaved in public; she jumped on the trampoline and the bosu and the swiss ball, notice a pattern!

Yogalates type workout today to stretch out the tight muscles and keep working that core.

Happy Thursday!

I'm doing something after work today. Workouts have been few and far between in the past week due to holiday stuff and a lot of work. I've finally finished grading all of our trimester exams, started new classes, and will finish my own online class on Sunday and then I've got some breathing room.

'slept' on couch so no getting up to run or really do anything this a.m. Feeling kinda crappy too for some reason. I did however swim 2000 last night and learned that build and descending in swim mean the same thing. I'm still puzzled.

MuffinQueen-build means increasing the effort within the the length so if I "build 3x100" on each 100 I start slow and end fast (building speed inside the 100) I may even have a goal to do each 100 at the same speed with this approach. In "descend" I am changing the speed for each length in the set. So descend 3x100 my first 100 is slower than the second which is slower than the 3rd so the speed for each 100 "descends". In build I learn to have a burst of speed within the distance, in descend I learn to push harder through each effort. I hope that makes sense and isn't more words! This is making me think the pool might be the way to go today.

Julie-I posted in wed about glucosamine lotion.

Have a good Thursday all, I'm early as I haven't figured out my rainy day alternative workout (our group bike ride was cancelled).

Thanks for shedding light on swim workouts SBee! You'd think after all this time as a deck parent, I would have picked something up ... but no.

40 minutes ellipticating for me. Typical resistance increase every 5 minutes (9-16).

Thought this AM may have been a little slick for riding - but someone else bike-commuted in, so maybe it wasn't so bad... Ah well. Hopefully I'll get more commuting in next week (personal day tomorrow).

Great day all.

Sparty - Wren is such a cutie! Yogalates... that's a new word! Enjoy!
Julie - I have been taking glucosamine/condrotin/msn combo for a while. Haven't noticed anything, but haven't got any knee issues either.
ksurp - sounds very busy weeks for you. Hang in there, Xmas break is coming.

8miles including 6miles at MP. The target MP was 8:55. Though I am happy to see my body moved well, I failed to nail the pace. Not easy at all. Particularly the first mile was way too fast (after a rest day yesterday, felt fresh and didn't want to miss the target.) Ended up 8:18-8:35-8:36-8:19-8:42-8:40 . Now I know the HR at 8:40ish pace so I can use that as a guide to hit 8:55.

Virtual hugs to you all. Just because I can.

Good afternoon, TEAM LIT!

Yoshi: Thanks for the explanation on the tilted pelvis. The good thing is that you now have an answer. And it seems like it's working out. Stick with what works! And by the looks of your workouts, it is working!

Me...

4.5 mile run early this morning in black ice conditions. Wear testing a new pair of shoes with very poor traction so although I did not fall I did slip a bit.

Great day, friends!

30 minutes on the trainer last night followed nearly immediately by a deep tissue massage.

AAHHH Light dawns on marble head. Thanks!! I get it now. Build refers to speed and descend refers to time. As my friend Cheryl jokes with me "nice girl, little slow"

Yoshi: Thanks for the hugs. Hugging is such an important part of my life I realized. I am way more of a hugger than I thought.

I wish I was. I really do. It just doesn't come naturally to me because it wasn't a part of my first 20-some years. Apparently I passed that to my kids. I am trying to improve.

I ended up with no workout either. Did go to see Trip to Bountiful with H and in-laws and had dinner at Abbey Lane before. Good play. Got to see Cicely Tyson, Blair Underwood and Vanessa Williams on stage. Great acting.

eeep, Thursday and I hadn't yet run during the week!
Went out for my favorite 3 miler around Dudley Pond.
Then, I got my hair cut!
(it had been nearly a year since my last cut)

Cheryl (aka cake)
