December Challenge

In the last few months, I've been giving myself a fitness challenge for the month. In October it was the 100 mile running challenge and November it was complete the full round of P90X3 (which is 6-7 days a week). I am happy to say I met both challenges!

I know December can be hard to stick with things as it gets busy, so another challenge is in order for me. I have 2 fitness challenges this month: Completing round 2 of P90X3 and taking total steps of 200 miles for the month.

Anyone else in for a December challenge?

I'm in! Since running is out for the month (insert sob face when my phone reminded me that marathon registration opened today) I am working on long and lean/core. Joined a FB challenge group with an old dance buddy turned Beachbody coach and I am signed up for 25 days of PILATES. #WorkTheWeakness

Oh and my sister and I are doing a plank challenge since she's on the disabled list this month too.

I was thinking I'd like to make 200 cycling miles and I need 22 ow swim miles (to make 550 for the year).
December is a tricky month here as rains make the roads very slippery (after no rain all year there's a bad build-up of oil) and the same rain runs off into the ocean, so it could be a challenging month, outside of all the holiday activity, to get outdoor miles in.

AdCo get out and swim! I have to come up with a swim plan that starts feb 1 until then its just accumulated miles

If I really wanted to challenge myself, it'd be "No Ice Cream December".... but I don't think that's happening....

I'm going to note what's going to my mouth. Day 1 passed and I ate so much crap that I can't remember.... Day 2 and after will be better!!

This 1 workout a day is not working for me weight-wise.....

(As I typed this, TASM came to my mind... She often made a comment about crazy me squeezing 3 workouts a day. I miss her...)

My December challenge - write it down every day. I'm "scoring" my day rather than writing down specific food I eat (less crazy-inducing for me), and logging both my workouts and my total steps for the day.

Same as the past 3 months...run very day. Continue to build mileage and lose a few pounds. Not focused on speed yet, but my runs have been getting faster as I run more and lose weight. Today will make 94 days of running, covering more than 400 miles. Lost about 15 pounds.

Yay, Don, good to see you!

Ok, folks. The first week of Dec is behind us. How did you do with the challenge?

I give myself "C". I started the day well but as I got busier and more tired (especially the weekend), I just kept reaching to any food in sight.
Got to do better! Next two days will be on the road, so I know it will be even harder

On the swimming front I'm behind due to storms dumping polluted runoff (ie "pool" closed) only 4 miles, on the riding 62 miles gets me slightly ahead. I did eat a bit more junk than usual in part due to "inlaw" type visitors making us all crazy...week 2 is starting well visitors gone, food good and so far conditions are swimmable (its about to change)!

I've been staying consistent with running every day. About 40 miles/week at this point. Ran a half marathon on the 6th in 1:51. Not my best time by far, but I felt strong throughout and the last 5K were my fastest. Improvement will come from continuing what I've been doing and losing more weight. The next couple weeks will be challenging to continue the streak, but I know I will get it done.

Week 2 completed 42.67 miles of total stepping, 93.17/200 for December. On track! How is everyone else doing with their December goals?

Good job, Don & Julie!

Boy, another poorly managed week. And scale shows it.... I need to refocus, reset, and just be mindful about what goes into my mouth (and how much!)

Yoshi: I'm with you on that mindfulness thing.

I'm going to keep on this weight training thing. It has been working for me and is something I know I need.

Great job Don! Nice to see you here.

I've been laying low with a cough this past week, lungs don't quite handle the common cold as well as they used to. I have kept up my PT appts and some Pilates/yoga type workouts, although very short (5-10) minutes. Even though circumstances aren't perfect or idyllic I'm finding my footing a bit!

1 hour HARD workout on trainer road. IF you want to improve, it really make you do the work your supposed to do.

So how did everyone do over the Christmas holiday? I passed my ow swim goal but I'm 68 miles short of my riding goal. I missed a few rides due to that whole fun asthma thing and even shortened my last long ride "in case". There's enough time to make that up I suppose but I'm better off staying with an overall sane approach.

Ran every day in December, making four months of daily running. Mileage was not as high as November due to the weather, holidays and travel. Ran a 5K on New Years Day and placed second AG out of 22. Still feeling sluggish but getting a little better. Weight stayed about the same. Now that the holidays are over I can focus on losing a few more pounds which should help with speed. I'll be doing a winter series of races and the first two are this month.
