Thursday, Sept 18 - Workouts!

8 easy miles with Sue, Matt, Rick and Jay. The entire run we were engaged in a discussion about corporal punishment and whether NFL players should be suspended before they are convicted, along with how we were disciplined as kids. Made the time pass quickly. Nice to run at a pace where you can have a discussion longer than one or two words.

Have a great day, tri-peeps!

Mike

1 mile run and a 3900yd swim this morning. Swim was:
350 warm up,
3200 TT,
350 cool down.

I went out too fast, but that's OK since this is training. After the warm up, my first 800 was done in 11:51 and although I didn't feel like I was burning out, the 2nd was 19 secs slower, then 10 slower than that and 10 slower again over the last 2. Next TT, I'll be sure to pace a little better.

Have a great day.

Alaska M & Julie - nice to have running buddies! I miss running with others... other than running with DH once in a while, I have no running buddies now. hard to find times I can commit. I have riding buddies though
X - nice TT! What's your trick to count 3200 straight.... I even have a hard time to go straight 300.

2000m in the morning. I am happy that I have been able to squeeze two swims (though short) per week before work. Kids' leaving at 6:30am helps me get going!
5miles including 8x100m stride in the middle. Legs were heavy but happy they moved at a decent pace.
I may try to get strength exercises in somewhere between spending time with DD for preparing for the college fair visit this weekend and DS pickup. Will see.

Good afternoon, TEAM LIT!

Busy so right to it with a double for me...

4 mile run early this dark and cool morning. Was able to go with short sleeve shirt, but any colder and I would've been cold.

Then at noon...

25 min Treadmill incline intervals as:
<core work>
10 min @ 15% grade 13:00 pace
<core work>
10 min @ 15% grade ramp from 12:30 to 12:00 pace
<core work>
5 min @ 15% grade ramp from 12:30 to 11:30 pace

The usual for me. Chilly morning! 40's... Nothing of note. Rest day tomorrow, in advance of doubling-up the Seacoast Century. Should get my precious back tomorrow night - but glad to still make the Bianchi a part of the stable

Even though I'm swimming straight through with no rest, I hit the lap button every 800, so it's easier to track where I'm at. I also have gotten good at checking my time on the watch as I turn to breath. I'll take a long exaggerated stroke to look at the time. I usually check my time after 6 laps. Since I know 6 laps, 8 laps, etc. are going to take me 4:##-4:##, I can tell how many laps I've done. I may repost this in tomorrow's thread in case you don't check again today.

X - that's impressive. It still requires doing some math in your head, unless your specific # of laps takes even #'s like :00, :30,:15.......
There is a clock at the end of the pool and I did look at it by lifting my head up when I was figuring out where I was at during 500 the other day. Yeah took me a while (like a full length of the pool) to complete my math.

At lunch I rode a bike at work and then did some light stretching. Evening workout was with my running group. We did 5x800, and then 5x400, mostly around half marathon to marathon pace. Most of us are racing on the weekend, so they took it easy on us!

I ran with the peeps in the a.m. I considered a fleece but then where would I been when it got really cold. Scott suggested it would be a 4 fleece winter for me and I don't own 4 appropriate fleeces so I opted instead for a long sleeved shirt and long sport bra and gloves and 3/4 pants. No hat for this hot little head. Was happy with selection. 5.3 miles at avg pave of 9:29 thanks to Kitty. Had a 2 sub 9:20 miles in there. Woot!
