After running my first 5K of the season back in March I felt a twinge in my left hamstring which I wrote off to pushing hard during that race. As I’ve continued running/riding in recent weeks it has gotten worse and the sore/tight feeling has traveled to behind my left knee. When I’ve had a rest day or two it has improved. Today it is quite sore and painful with my normal daily walking around. I looked up the symptoms online and it matches descriptions of hamstring tendonitis. So… Has anyone experienced this? Should I stop running/riding until it improves? Should I shift to swimming? Are there any particular stretching/foam roller treatments for this? I’ve never had an injury before so while I’d like to keep running/riding I know that may not be the smartest idea in the long term. I have a HM in 10 days. It is not an A race for me and I’m guessing running it might not be in my best interest. My A race tri is in early July and I really want to be ready for that. In the meantime I also have an Oly and a sprint in June. Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.
