I still plan on doing at least 2 24 hour training runs next year, just for fun

Yup, you are the one, just started back up swimming about 3 weeks ago, slow goes it, but back to 3,000 yds Im practices pretty quickly, ugghh, and coaching about 2 months ago.

Thanks, I look forward to all kinds of advice on redlining and pain when it comes to the bike, I love pain!

Mine thoughts as a newbie, just finishing my first a few months ago:

you can't run as much, focus on your weaknesses and the running will come back into the mix naturally. You will never run anywhere near what you used to, so forget about the MPW. You can never do a 20+ run between now and 2011 and be okay, it's nothing new. Swimming next to other people, or swimming period is new. The difference between a biker and runner on the bike is very apparent when there's a hill in the mix, runners can somewhat fake it pretty well until a hill comes along. Louisville will have hills.
