On this day in 1904, Theodor Geisel, better known to the world as Dr. Seuss, the author and illustrator of such beloved children's books as "The Cat in the Hat" and "Green Eggs and Ham," is born in Springfield, Massachusetts (history.com)

7 weeks until Boston. The sickness bug hit me last week. Started feeling something on Tuesday night and skipped work and workouts on Wednesday. Not sure it was the same bug that's been laying people low for weeks at a time here in Chicago and I was playing it safe, but I could have done without. Had a good long run with MP section on Sunday, evening though I bonked at the end of the run due to not enough calories in my system.

Another week of quality coming up. Focus will continue to be on the run. 64 miles running on the schedule, I'll probably push that close to 70. Hills Monday, Tempo Tuesday, Mile Repeats on Thursday and Long Run with MP on Saturday. Easy runs on Friday and Sunday. 3 days of biking, 3 days of swimming.

Tonight - 6 miles with 2 x 15 min hill sections. Then masters swim.

Have a great week tri-peeps!

Mike

Get better Mike! Geez, it's like we're passing something around in this forum sad.gif

Unplanned rest day - master's was cancelled due to a delayed pool opening from weather. A whole 3 inches of snow here and the schools were cancelled again roll_eyes.gif So DD and I are off to build a really cool snowman!

I'll probably do some strength training later, just to get something in.

I do not like them, Sam-I-am! I do not like green eggs and ham!

Noreaster strikes New England! They're saying 12-15". My half-hour commute took 1:15.

Trainer ride of SPINNING. oy!
New bike numbers made for a fun ride.
Then 30 minute brick. Roads were 99% dry, just some patches of ice on sidewalks where runoff froze overnight and those were in the shadows. Anything with sun on it was fine.

I forgot how bright snow is in the sun. I wore sunglasses for the first time in awhile this winter.

When I lived in Ohio it seemed that the need for sunglasses was almost more critical in the winter (when the sun did deign to show its face) than in the summer. Snow and ice glare can make for some fun driving conditions. It's sure pretty to look at though. There was an ice storm when I was in college one time..... the trees looked like they were coated in silver when the sun came out.

Ferries are for wimps!!
Let's swim!

Planning a 2500-yd swim later but the the Noreaster has us socked in for now at least. I'm working from home this morning, may venture out later. I'm only 3 miles from the office and have 4WD on the truck, but it's the other motorists I'm worried about! There are accidents all over the news this morning.

Be careful everyone!

Mike - Sounds like another exciting/challenging week is coming up for you! 3/wk for bike and swim for maintanance ON TOP of those quality runs - supermannotworthy.gif

Those who are snowed in.. be careful out there. I feel for you - what a long/snowy winter this has been...

Recovery week starting. 45min of spinning, moving a saddle foward/backward, and repeat. Went to a bicycle fit yesterday to confirm eliminating two spacers didn't mess up anything else. Now trying to get more comfortable with flatter back which seems to require a different shape saddle. Another thread for this. Swim easy later before heading to off site meeting.

I'm about to do some ab stuff and maybe a little yoga, and this evening after the mister gets home, to the gym for a brick workout.

A busy day of making appointments and paying bills and cleaning and dyeing until then.

a foot+ of the white stuff for us... my office has a delayed opening till noon, but since I spend more than three hours a day commuting on a normal day, I refuse to go into the office for a half day, so I called in.

just shoveled. wow, am I tired from yesterday's race, but I feel a little less tight now. off to the pool later, maybe a movie if I can convince AdCo.

Not much snow here, but freakin COLD!!! 12* when I headed to the gym. This is March, right???

Fishbowl for me. Planned 2500yds. Suspect I miscounted, again, as I finished in 1:07.

FIB grocery shopping.

Planned ride this afternoon. Not sure if it's gonna happen or not. Still stupid cold out there with 15mph winds. At least it's sunny???

Had a good short-ish run yesterday. Plan is to get on the bike later today and then maybe a mile or so run for my first real brick of the year.

I'm sure you all in the east don't want to hear it, but we are having record high temps (low 70s) this week in Denver.

Enjoy your snow! (Still plenty in the mountains here, making for a PERFECT ski day Saturday)

Workout #2. Spin to loosen the legs. Supposedly 15mph winds out of the NNW, but I'm thinking it's more than that. Into the wind the best I could do was 12mph. With a tailwind, same section I easily did 17.8mph. Crosswind wasn't that bad. OA 15.87m, 1:07, 14.1mph.

Just got in from my brick... perfectly awesome spring day! Little wind, 72* or so and just a few clouds meandering about. Rode about 14 miles, ran about 1.5. Not too bad for my first one. Transition was pathetic though... nearly 5 min! After last summer, I promised I would do more bricks, so why not start early?!

Five months til Tri for the Cure, on August 2. Not sure what else I'm going to register for, but I need to get on the ball!

1000m swim. I had planned to hit the spin bike and the TM afterwards, but I neglected to throw a sports bra in the bag so I will go back in the morning.

6 solid hours in the pool doing that TI workshop thing this past weekend seems to have wiped me out.

Taking it easy tonight. Maybe I'll mess around with my free weights.

Stay well or get well, depending.

Was dragged to swim. I managed 600 yds before my form went to CRAP and I had nothing in the tank. I always feel VERY rough and low energy the day after my long runs.
