Congrats Ironpeople/girls/women/men/peeps! Way to go!

Thanks everyone for tracking us. I just read through the entire thread. I'm glad y'all saw me pointing to my LIT hat. That was just for y'all. And how about that "Go Daddy" sign? That was too funny.
Yesterday was an awesome day!
I'm feeling good this morning, other than my legs. It's hard to sit down and get back up again.
I'll post a report when I get home in a couple days.

I read this thread when I got home last night. thank you so so much. you may not believe this, but knowing you guys were tracking me kept me going. It really did. Like I told LRR, I wanted to make y'all proud! and then Chris(T3) made a request that I come in under 15 so he could make it to some party. ha! I showed him!

I saw Kyle at about mile 10 on the bike, we chatted for a minute. Kate and I played catch and chase for a while on the bike, we even hit the turn around point side by side. I saw Kyle again on the run.

The best part was seeing Kathleen (KC) at T1. she was volunteering and she was my angel. my fingers, toes, and lips were frozen. She completely took care of me. she fastened my chin strap, put on my race belt, helped me with my sunglasses, and shoes, and took my wetsuit & goggles, and sent me off with a hug.

but are you ready for this???..........

drum roll........

I destroyed my goal. I PR'd this IM course by 1 hour and 40 minutes!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm so excited I can't stop smiling.

I'll have pics and a RR soon.

Thanks again for tracking, and doing the miles with me. all of you were right there with me, helping me with my IM PR!!

Congratulations Maggie! Major goal-busting last night. You looked really strong coming through the finish line. Ah, and that smile of pure satisfaction! It was a pleasure "racing" with you the entire time. Looking forward to your race report!

Hey Kyle,

I think you put on your super-cape yesterday didn't you? Did you have to contact the local air traffic control while you were on the bike?

It was such fun tracking your progress. My concern was you might cross the finish before we would catch you on video. No problem--your "Go Daddy" sign kinda set the stage (no pun intended) and at least I knew I would spot you easily. We knew you knew we were watching; thanks for pointing to your hat!

Congratulations again!

Snooze and I were at the finish line (with Stitcher) for the majority of the finishers and it was unbelievable. So much raw emotion! Kyle looked great at the finish! We had a blast and will be there again next year doing the same thing!!!!!!

Hi Yo Sake,

I saw him cross! Cool. Please congratulate him for me.

Thanks,

LOL! That's her real name. Oh, and she finished top five I think. She is from Florida and now resides in Kailua-Kona.

So I was watching the final hour on video. And what do I see?

One guy went up to the crowd and got a cigar. It must have been planned, but he lit up and proceeded to gingerly walk up to the finish. He was smoking a stogie as he crossed!

I don't know if he just couldn't wait to do it afterwards. I'm not even sure what message he was sending, on top of just being happy to finish.

It was a very unique finish!

My hats off to you volunteers. Thanks for making the race happen. I'll have to see about volunteering for other IM events in the future.

Super congratulations to Ironman Kyle (you kicked complete ass, dude!) and Ironchicks Maggie (way to smash that IM PR by a crazy long time!) and Kate!

You all done Team LIT VERY proud!

Dougie Fresh 11-03-2008 01:46 PM

It was fun to just now read through this whole thread from start to finish. I was hoping for a happily ever after type of ending and I got it. CONGRATULATIONS TO ALL THE IRONPEEPS! You all ROCK!

Kate60 11-04-2008 08:18 PM

Just reading this now, thanks everyone for sending those vibes, boy did I need them. Leg totally blew out, but I got it done anyway.

I did get to meet Kyle and Maggie but none of the volunteers.

Will post pics later.

Tithers 11-04-2008 08:19 PM

Can't wait to see them Kate!
