Hi all, here is a quick update from Germany. Lots more to follow later, including plenty of pics (none of Neil and I holding hands!), and some video, if they come out.

Neil rocked the course! He raced smart, kept his legs under him, and just blew it away! I got to see him T1, as our racks were only a row apart. I then saw hin on the run course quite a few times. Man I was so proud of him! He raced so darn smart.

I on the other hand, had a so-so day. Showing up to the start line with my last six months of training was not the best idea. However, I was still looking forward to it, and just planned to see how the day went and go from there. Ended up with a couple issues. Was a pain in the butt to have to walk in the last two laps, but it was still cool.

Sorry to keep you all in suspense.

WAY TO GO NEIL!!

Back later.

I have just arrived back home and as Jim said we saw a lot of each other on the Death March (sorry the run)

Jims Mum and Dad were sporting fantastic Team Kaiser Lost in Transition t-shirts the whole day and they were all over the course giving a huge amount of support - they were wonderful

I will sit down in the next few days and get a proper report together

But needless to say despite teh soreness - the smile has not left my face since crossing the finish line .

Jim - it was great meeting up with you guys you were all awesome people

Another one. Yes I am exactly 10 meters back. I passed him right after I got the camera back in the bento.

Here is the beginning of the final climb, where it becomes a single lane TdF type atmosphere. This is just the lower area, before the crowds got thick.

One with me lamenting about a guy not riding on the right side of the road. Seemed like the thing to do at the time.

I think that is about all the video. I took a few pictures as well during the ride. Will post those later, along with the ones Michele took, which will include a bunch of Ironman Neil.

Great job to both of you!

Okay, I've nailed getting my water bottle in and out of the cage while riding, I'm pretty good at unwrapping bars, eating them and putting the wrapper back in my pocket while staying in the aerobars...but I don't think I'm quite ready to graduate to filming a documentary while on the bike portion of an IM. I agree with LRR...Fookin Nut! Great footage BTW.

I love all the footage, but that last one is definitely the keeper of the bunch.

Great job to both of you!

Nope, checked that, he was german.

I will try to get the pics up tomorrow, got some good ones of Iron-Neil.

It is about time to stop the curls for the night. Dad and I will reconvene tomorrow for a few more brews.

Jim, great thanks for posting these. How fun! Seriously, although you were probably growing fatigued by the minute, you sound very good in those videos. How many hooligan triathletes do you know who race wild video recovering? Nobody. Just you!
