Okay kickrunners, time for our next virtual event. It starts Thanksgiving week the 19th of November and ends 02 January 2008.

For those of you unfamiliar with this its basically a way to stay motivated through the busy holiday season, with daily events and activities that promote health, wellness, and fitness. By participating in each event you get points, plus you get points each day you do any type of fitness related activity (for at least twenty minutes)

Here is an example of some of this years activities
  • Wear your seat belt
  • Getting your blood pressure checked
  • Giving up junk food
The teams consist of three people, and once teams are formed, you need to come up with a holiday/fitness themed team name (such as Three French Hens, Batteries Not Included, Christmas Treesome, etc)

The week runs from Monday through Sunday, and a designated team captain can report team points to me via email or private message.

I will upload the calendar for viewing, I can email one to you, and each days events will be available on a calendar here. I will also post each days activity in a separate thread each day.

Some of the riff raff folks are familiar with this event as we have done this three or four times at those various sites.

Please post any questions that you have here and I will answer them, drop me a private message, or email me [email protected] and I will help you out.

This is a great way to stay motivated through the holiday's and is a lot of fun. I hope everyone enjoys it, as it has been very successful when I have done it before.

Thanks

Cappy

This sounds like a great time! Especially the idea of trying a new activity or habit here and there. Do you need any suggestions for wellness/fitness activities? If so, I'll be happy to pitch in!

For me, can every calendar day be "Do not eat any frosted sugar cookies today!" ?

Have faith in you and the things you do.

For every day you exercise, you get 10 points, plus each day there are various health and wellness activities that give you additional points.

Just exercise and follow the calendar, pretty simple really.

Oh and you need two teammates

I have the calendar already made up, but I could always use some more ideas for next year.

Thanks

I'll do it. Just tell me who I am with and what to do and I will do my best for my team

Whatever you can do,
Or think you can, begin it.
Boldness has power, and genius,
And magic in it.

I think we're supposed to form our own. That's how we did it last time...come over to the find a team thread and find your partners!!!!

I'd like to "meet" some of the people here I don't know yet....this would be a fun way to do it.

Cappy,

I'm going to travel for about two weeks from Thanksgiving into December.

Is this a game where everyday posting is required, or can I come to post my activities on a more sporadic basis?

I don't what to join if I am hindering my team.

If you go to the "Calendars" section of this website (look at the headings at the top of the page) you can switch from the "Kickrunners Race Calendar" to the "Maintain Campaign" at the bottom of the calendar page. But here's a link:

This post is not meant to offend, demean or alienate anyone in any way, and if it did so please contact me by PM so I can rectify any offense as may be fitting. The opinions stated above are the sole property of the poster and in no way represent the opinion of this website or its members.

Cappy, I want to make sure I have this right and there might be others with the same question, so I'll post here rather than via PM.

So, each day of this campaign we automatically get the designated points for a minimum of 20 minutes of exercise. But if you only do 10 min of exercise, that's 0 points right? You have to do at least 20 min? And if you do more than that, you don't get more points - just the designated allotment of points for exercise.

And then if you do what activity or task is designated each day on the calendar you made up, you get the allotted points for that activity or task, but you only get the points for doing it on THAT day, correct? So, today for example, I get the points for doing my weight management goals for the next 6 wks, but if I waited until tomorrow or some other day to do it, I don't get to go back and claim the points for it?

Each team member will report their points to their captain and the captains will submit those points to you when they are ready? If someone is offline or not able to report in on a given day, we can play catch up later (like we did with VRAA), but the points can still only be claimed for doing the designated tasks on the designated day - and not catching up by cramming everything into one day (like doing three days worth of tasks in one day to play catch up) .

Does this make sense? and do I have the rules interpreted correctly? Will you be making a thread that shows all the teams, who they are comprised of, and what their names are, so we can decide which team we want to trash talk . . . this is for KenA's benefit of course . . .

~Tammy~
