Unfortunately the cold spell will be right when the race is. Probably 20 at the start. Up an over 5 mountain peaks and then back the way we came for 17.6 miles. Marathoners go over 3 more peaks and back .

Today I stopped at the Natches Trace State Park and ran the Cub Lake trail loop. Garmin had 4.7 miles. Very nice 60 degrees and avoided the light rain that had been falling most of the morning. Ran through a lot of ankle deep water in the low places but the trail wasn't that hilly.

Dress right and you'll be fine Rip. The wind chill might be the factor to worry about.

20 moh this morning w brisk North winds. Fortunately wind blocked in several places. Wind chill 41 degrees. Tomorrow suppose to be 34-36 degrees w/out windchill. Hoping for no wind of course. Today's run time not bad not good. Just good miles. Hoping for 40+ this week.

Nice long run KS
I've been running at least once a week outside so I should be okay.

I hiked up and down 3 peaks today in an hour and then ran back in 40 minutes. Just under 4 miles each way. Going to do the other 2 peaks tomorrow.

Ran over and back the other two peaks this morning for around 4.8 miles. I hiked the first hill but will probably run more of it during the race. On the way back I ran the whole way to the top. All the other peaks require hiking as they are much steeper.

Felt a tweak in my back last night and this morning my back and right hip was really tight. Jogged 2 miles on the treadmill at a very slow pace and decided not to run the race. Was also a little concerned about the multiple water crossings in 15 degree weather. When I unregistered I saw 14 other runners had done the same. Still 177 runners registered. Checked the website at 10 pm and the race had been cancelled. I was glad I got to do the trail as I might try to go back next year if the weather is better. The forecast for Tuesday morning is calling for middle 50s!

Take care Rip. We ran ez 10 miles this morning in 14 degree wind chill/27 degrees. That's as cold as I can remember in S TX since I moved here 12 years ago. We will be back into 60-70's next week.

I ran an ez 4 yesterday. Didn't feel well this morning so I hope to get a few tonight. Wind is blowing crazy here but temps are 70-80's again. Looks like Houston marathon is going to be quite warm for the runners come Sunday

I signed up for Houston Half in 2005 before I blew up my back in an accident and didn't run for 3 years. I went to watch and it was like 30 degrees. That was back when you could sign up a month before the race. It was going to be my first race as a master.

Ran 7.61 miles in an hour today.

10 miles on Thursday alternating hills and flat every half mile. Just over 9 minute pace with 1,800 ft elevation gain.

Friday was 8 miles in 65 minutes.

Set my treadmill record for both time and mileage. 28 miles in 3:42:15. That was actual time including breaks to restart the treadmill each hour and a couple short walk breaks to take Gu. I was thinking about going to 50k but only took 4 Gu and my stomach was starting to go a little. The initial plan was 22.5 miles in 3 hours but I felt exceptionally good so I kept going.

I'm still here. Plan on running tonight. Houston was brutal. Julie 45 mins slower than goal. She probably would have dropped had she not caught her friend.
