Arrow 30s Spring 2015 Weight Loss Challenge

OK 30s (and 30s wannabes), it's time!

I hopped on the scale this morning at the dermatologist's office while waiting for the PA to come into the exam room. As expected, I have gained back a teeny bit of the weight I had lost, but I'm still down 8-9 pounds overall so I am OK with it.

STARTING WEIGHT - 155 as of this morning
GOAL WEIGHT - I will be happy with 145-147
WEIGHT LOSS PLAN - more variety in my workouts, incorporate biking and swimming back in, less junk in my diet (boo on that last one, which will be the hardest by far... I do love my sweets)

I also want to pick a triathlon or two to train for. Maybe one in June and one in August.

Who's in? And what is our end date? Want to go until Memorial Day?

I havent weighed myself in a few months, but my pants are sliding down at the moment, so I'm going to sit this one out.

But I'll cheer you guys from the sideline.

I'm in! 171.5 this morning. I've been hovering around that number since the fall.

Goal is to get down to a proper summer weight of 162. If I can get below that I'll be at "racing" weight.

Strategies: Portion control. Eliminate eating after 7 pm. Add in some cycling, speed work and strength training.

Dates are one of my FAVORITE sweets. The big fat medjool kind, not the shriveled up ones.

YUMMMAY!!!

I'm in...

but I'm not putting my starting weight in here. It's THAT bad and embarrassing, but I created an email draft with that number in it so I'll have it for reference. Scouts honor!

Memorial day is a decent stopping date. it's a short time period (2 months), but if need be (or the interest is still there) we can always have a carry-over group for an extension time period.

Goals for me: I'd like to see at least 10 lbs coming off by then. Preferably more, but since PT has me pulled off of everything but their in-house stuff, I can't jump into crazy cardio work. Nonetheless, that doesn't mean that I should just and wait, either. I'll figure something out!

OMG no worries about not disclosing your starting weight. I did it to shame myself.

Yeah, you can always go algebraic and use X.

I've kind of stopped using Nike + or my Garmin to track mileage, and now I just look at the stats on the iPhone Health app. It seems pretty accurate. Yesterday I started putting in my weight into the app as well.

Thanks for getting this going, Theia! I had a nice number on my work scale post-run today. I won't record it though, since I'm using my home scale and first thing in the morning for official weigh ins.

I'm happy to offer up an Oregon ducks shirt or something as a prize. Maybe we should all put up a team shirt of some type for a motivational exchange.

I remember betting on the NHL playoffs many years ago with a couple of the 30s. The prize was running socks.

Holding steady at 155. I am OK with that considering I skipped three workouts last week (3!!!) and ate cookie dough last night. Mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm cookie dough.............

I will probably sit this one out too, but after vacation I am going to eat a little healthier. I will be cheering from the sidelines.

Uh..I've sort of been too afraid to check. While eating habits have definitely seen an improvement, I'm still on very restricted activity per my PT group. in fact, the trial running thing may be about to stop again. (boooooo)

At least with it being warmer here, I can get out in the yard for some work. It's not cardio by any means, but it's at least constant movement. (and let me tell you, working with a Sawzall for more than a quick cut works those arm muscles and, in my case, glutes and hamstrings, rather well)

That is pretty normal, I think. I see a lot of people on FB who are doing Weight Watchers or the like, and they go up or down anywhere from 1/4 pound to 2 pounds in any given week. As long as you're trending down in general, I call that a success.

I held steady this week. I was hoping for another pound off. Oh well, that just strengthens my resolve to lose 2 this week! Overall I am down 11 since November! Here's a pic from this morning. I love wearing this skirt; it makes me feel good!

/whistle to Theia's photo!

At one point, I think I'd lost 1-2 lbs on this journey, but running on the TM backfired at PT, so now I'm back to no cardio at all, and limping a bit with knee, hamstring and adductor issues. Meh. I bet that 1-2 will be poofing away soon! ><

Grats to you guys that are moving in the right direction, though! Rawr, indeed!

I fit into a pair of jeans this morning that I haven't been able to wear in YEARS! Seriously, this is the first time they fit over my fat ass (actually, more likely my womanly hips) in probably 4 years.
