Nice Race Report, Solar!
So... today is the anniversary of Voodoo's passing. It's amazing to think that 4 years have gone by already...
For the last couple days, my left foot has been feeling a little funky. It doesn't hurt per se. It's one of those things where I describe it as "I'm aware of my foot". It hasn't stopped me from doing a couple easy runs the last couple days, and it won't stop me from running in the Pizza Race tonight. But after tonight, I think I'll take some time off. Maybe bike a bit or swim a bit. But I think I need to give my feet and legs a bit of a break. I haven't had a really good break from running since I came back from the broken ankle 5 years ago. Maybe a good month of downtime will recharge me...
How's everyone else doing?
Great report Lora! I loved seeing the pics too. I don't have any Welsh ancestry, just English and Irish, but I'd love to visit Wales someday and your report just reinforced that desire.
4 years. On Saturday, Moonie and I are going to see the Akron Aeros (the Indians AA minor league team) vs the Richmond Flying Squirrels (the Giants AA team), meeting up with Roots (also a Bay Area native and Giants fan like Moonie) and SGH in the process. We are going to raise a glass in Voodoo's memory.
Afternoon all and greetings from the Gateway to the West! Absolute crap night of sleep, combo of: getting in later than I'd planned, dog hogging my bed, smoke detector going off for no apparent reason at 3:30 a.m. and getting up early for CF. At any rate, I made it up for a morning session that ended pretty solidly and was able to watch one of my cousins "graduate" from her on-ramp classes by completing a benchmark workout called Fight Gone Bad. Going to double dip today by hitting up the 7 p.m. class with lil sis #4, it may be a bad decision, will let you know later
Moonie & Kris - omg, somehow I missed the mess that was your weekend until last night... woof!
Voodoo will be on my mind today, for sure.
Bike ride planned for lunch today.
Building is getting closer to being open.
DW and kids are at old time music camp. Mila is getting solicited to play bass with a band and gig at the local Opry. The old people at this camp just adore her and her ability to play so many instruments.
Lora, I'm going to carve out some time tonight to read your race report!
Yay for your friends, Maria!
I didn't run last night, so I ran this morning. 4 min easy/1 min sprints for 30 minutes. I took the hilly route just to see if I could. I couldn't quite
I missed swim at lunch, but my folks agreed to keep the kids this evening so I can catch the 7:00 practice.
You know... four years feels like so much longer than it has been since we lost our caveman.... yet the Flying Pig event feels like it was just a year or so ago to me still. Voo's presence will always be a part of this group, no doubt.
((( KJ ))) That's an awesome pic of kittykitty. He looks like he was spying something that needed to be pounced upon. I'm so sorry for your loss, but am glad that you were able to spend 14 years with your four legged family member.
Lora - nice report! Loved the photo with the castle view!
Me: Meh here. it's been a back and forth week with the knees, but I'm getting used to that. Will try to run my 1M today - for the first time since Saturday. Hopefully the results will be good.
(((((((((((( 30's group )))))))))))))))))))) just because I feel like it.
(((KJ))) So sorry about Aspen. He was a beauty.
It was more comical than anything, though our friends who arranged for the lakehouse (which they rent fairly often) felt horrible that we came so far without being able to have the weekend we planned. We made the best of it, had a fun time with them, learned 5 person Euchre, and just enjoyed ourselves. Can't wait for the next time we get to have a real lakehouse weekend though.
Lora - that was an awesome race report, and Wales sounds like a beautiful place to be. In a lot of ways, my mind was thinking a lot like yours during my short 30 min run today, in terms of the experience vs. how long it takes.
Speaking of which, I donned my Voodoo socks and shirt and got out for a short run. My right ankle really isn't ready for regular running yet, but I wasn't going to NOT get out there today. Couldn't have asked for a better day weather-wise either - it felt almost fall-like today.
Like Bard said, we'll be up in the Akron area this weekend meeting Roots and SGH for some baseball, and then some brews in Voo's honor.

Hugs to KJ...
I'd say the pizza run was a success today. Early (unofficial) results show me at 22:19. I'm quite happy with that, since the course is somewhat hilly, I just did the airport race a few days ago, and my foot has been feeling a little weird. So I'll happily take it...
Now I think I'll take a little time off...
Congrats on the pizza run, bob
My friend was cut at the crossfit games today, ending tied for 17th in the world for her division. So proud of her! Oh, and Maria's gal is holding strong in her age group!
