Ailarie - glad to hear you are running again!
I too am back at it. I ran 4 miles this morning with a few walk breaks. It was 75 degrees already with 98% humidity. Since I have been benched the last 3 weeks, I am not at all acclimated to that. The good news is that it went okay. I still have some tweaks and my shoulder was sore when I finished (especially when taking off my sticky sweaty top - ouch!), but I think I can tread forward slowly.. FIngers crossed.
Spin this morning. I apparently shut off my alarm , but woke up 20 minutes before class started and hustled around to get there. I had some sushi and wine indulgences to work off Speed work on tap for tonight. I am not liking the forecast for it at all!
Morning all! I predict a super early bedtime for me tonight. Hit up CF last night & didn't get started until close to 7:30 pm and was back there this morning for my 5:30 am group... I felt it too. WOOF! Did some cool stuff this morning around a 4x2 tempo pace, basically using the eccentric and concentric portions of a lift (in this case, snatch grip dead lifts) to a 4, 2 count.
Great news Mindi! Meant to ask earlier, how is SIL doing?
Yeah Amy, way to rally against the snooze!
Missy - what a super rewarding way to end the day, can't wait to hear more
Big congrats to Lora on knocking out another marathon this past weekend... looking forward to the RR
Uh oh. Here come a flock of geese.
Hiya everyone! I can finally access the site again!
yippee for those getting back at it.
Boo for horse flies!
It is dreadful here as well. I just ran LR pace this morning (no speed work). I got in 12 and was drenched. When I walked in the door, the temp was 79 and the dew point 72. YUCK.
BTW - I am hitting a wall right now and feeding it with CANDY
CONGRATS to lora!!!!!! i can't wait to hear more about this crazy marathon!
yay for first mile, alicat! that must have been so fulfilling. shoot. i might need in on some of that special knee taping. my left knee is acting all funny and i'm not even really running these days!

glad you're back at it, RIL. take it slow, k??
way to get to class, amichel.
glad to hear bard/moonie's BIL is slowly making progress. was the concert outside? did you get eaten alive? taht would've been my only concern. lol.
this TOTALLY made laugh. you so funnnny, brandy.
so i've been really run down at work. we have some fundamental problems that get that much more compounded during high volume season but my delivery last night reminded me of why i do what i do - the honor of delivering a family's baby and being so intimately involved in the process. the delivery was unexpected - it came at change of shift. i really didn't expect her to deliver but she started to transition and i worked with her mother to reassure her and encourage her. my relief came on at 8:30pm sharp and stayed in the room as we laughed and talked with the mom who was standing next to the bed. then she started to bear down and i basically saw the baby's head descend. i grabbed a pair of gloves and just in the nick of time, caught a very slippery wet baby. it happened so quickly - everyone in the room was a little shocked. "es nino? nina?" mom asked. "nino," i replied. "nino! NINO!! hola, justin," she exclaimed as she clasped her baby in her arms, sobbing. there wasn't a dry eye in the room. just then, the RN entered the room. "WHAT HAPPENED?!???" she said. "oh, we just had a baby. thats all," i said nonchalantly. :)
Hiya, guys. Congrats to Lora on her race!
I ran late again, in order to wuss out and avoid the worst of the sun and heat. Just 3 miles again. But every mile counts, right?
My 5k race at the airport should be intersting on Saturday. The heat wave is supposed to continue until then, so temps of 90+ could mean 110+ on the tarmac. But they're also calling for "potential severe thunderstorms" on Saturday. That could make for an ugly race...
Did anyone else think of the birth scene in the Meaning of Life? :D
I biked at lunch, probably around 17 or 18 miles on the river path. It was very nice and uncrowded. I just relaxed and enjoyed the spin.
Brandy, I had a candy episode last night (sour balls). I felt guilty all day today.
My workout today was a modified Crossfit "Elizabeth" (21-15-9 cleans followed by dips - the cleans were on the light side, and no rings here to do the latter, so I improvised)
Lora - that was an awesome finishing picture of you on FB. Can't wait to hear the details of your marathon race, and congrats!
Amy - I love the roll you're on right now; keep on going on like you're doing.
Kath - my toe is okay, and my knee is pretty much healed. What I'm dealing with now is what seems to be posterior tib tendinitis, which means I'm curtailing the longer-distance running for awhile.
Missy - wow, that was an incredible experience; I'm sure that will stick with you for your lifetime.
Missy - yeah, the concert was outside; it's pretty cool in that it's held on a big grassy area in downtown and allowed to picnic as well as bring your own alcohol. We did worry about the mosquitoes because of all the rain we'd been having, so we picked up some insect repellant along the way. It seemed to do the trick for the most part.
