morning all.  Nice to see you in here Timr.

Brandy - it was hard for me to get up this morning too.

I ran 5 miles - 45 minutes (sorry KP).

QOD: Columbus marathon.  Hoping for 3:20, but I've got A LOT of work to do to get there.

Morning all!  Gotta get at least a few miles in today for National Running Day but it'll be after CF; another hero WOD on tap for tonight, "Jack" (20 min AMRAP of:  10 push press, 10 KBS, 10 box jumps)

KJ - congrats on getting into those pants!!  Love that feeling!

QOD - nothing solid but I'd like to train for at least a HM if not a full, it's been too long and I'm in the physical shape for it

Morning 30's I am going to run something slow this morning and lift some weights.  Today is going to be a good day because I say it will be.

Nice early run Tim

Brandy sometime sleep if better for you.

RIL how do you feel after your run?  Hope everything is ok.

NYC workout sounds fun and I need to find a HM or Marathon to run too.

Moon - got a recipe for those Clif bar knockoffs?

Power 45 today at 1:15, but I'm thinking a short run after work as well, because it's National Running Day!  How can I NOT run?  I'm going to be careful in class today with my back.  It's not worse and not better. I think my stomach sleeping habit isn't good for it, and that's a hard habit to break.  I just wake up in that position.  And HOLY NIGHT SWEATS last night. Omg. I had to get up and change my jammies, seriously, I could have wrung them out.  Very happy to have a king sized bed so that I could just move over to the dry side.  Cripes.

QOD: I think I want to run the Twin Cities Marathon again.  But I'm not registered for anything. Tough Mudder is up next in July.

OH, and I can stop yapping about my sister not being trained.  She came in a minute ahead of me in Saturday's trail race.

I too got out there for National Running Day this morning.  5 miles before work.   Sleep continues to elude me (so what else is new???), but I forced myself out the door and felt much better after the run than I had before it.  Glad I went.

Greek Festival later today.  I may go for lunch too, just 'cause I look cute today and want to be seen.   (Yes, I am that much of a brat!!!!  But I love my outfit.  Can't help myself.)

QOD: No fall races planned.  We were thinking seriously about Hartford, but it may not be in the cards for us.  I have my first tri in nearly 2 years next weekend, and I'll most likely do a second tri in August.  If I don't do a HM, maybe I'll do a September tri as well.  All sprints -- nothing major.  Oh, and the really informal July 4 du that I usually do.  It's more like a really hard training day with a race clock; it's that unofficial.

BigG, I'm jealous that you're doing a Mudder.  It's on my list.  Glad your sis has been secretly training!!!

Sweet Kath!

Goon - hope that back gets better and that you don't have any more night sweats.

Ron - I am doing okay.  Not 100% which is frustrating, but okay.  Thanks for asking.

Theia - we need pics of this cute outfit.

AND, the vendor we beat? She's held the number one spot for literally YEARS. And we beat her. It took 6 months.

(We've been #2 behind her all that time, but i thought it would take us longer to knock her out.)

Kath who was it?  I am on the edge of my seat.

Yes we needs pics Theia.

Nice running Missy.

I lifted which felt great and ran 3.13 slow.  My legs were a little tired but they felt fine at that pace.

Just the standard green monster:  shit-tons of spinach, cup of almond milk, scoop of protein powder, frozen banana, scoop of almond butter.  So good and so filling!  I'll do variations depending on what I have on hand i.e. swap out the banana for some frozen mango, add kale, throw in some fresh strawberries

Congrats to AK, little tadpole!  biggrin.gif

Way to go, Kath!

Smoothie:
handful frozen strawberries
Handful frozen blueberries
One banana (frozen or not)
Big handful of spinach
About a cup of almond milk (I use unsweetened vanilla)
Couple ice cubes
Choice of: teaspoon of p butter, or small handful of chopped walnuts, or whey protein powder
Sometimes I throw some ground flax in there

That's my breakfast most mornings.

QOD: Wales Marathon July 14 if my stupid calf holds up. Then NYC in early November. If my calf hold ups. Grr.

Eta: I'm heading out for my run shortly. Somewhere btwn 7-9 miles.

If today was perfect, there would be no need for tomorrow.

Another bar recipe I've been jonesing to make: Quinoa Breakfast Bars  I lerv quinoa.  Quinoa breakfast bowl - cold quinoa topped with plain greek yogurt, blueberries, chopped walnuts. Mix together some honey, cinnamon and nutmeg and drizzle that over the top.

I've been throwing chia seeds in almost all my smoothies.   Today was milk, mixed frozen fruit (it's a bag that has peaches, melon, berries, grapes, the works), scoop of protein powder, tablespoon of chia seeds, and a couple handfuls of spinach.

One of my faves is the PB&J smoothie.  It's divine. I think I just use regular dates. I don't know. They come in a bag in the bulk section of the Good Food store.  :)

Ingredients
  • 4 deglet nour or medjoul dates, pitted
  • 1 Tbsp creamy natural peanut butter
  • 1 small banana, frozen without the peel and quartered
  • 1/2 – 3/4 cup unsweetened vanilla almond milk (depending on preferred thickness)
  • 1/3 cup frozen blueberries
  • 1 Tbsp flax seed meal

Instructions
  1. Add all ingredients to blender and mix until well combined. Add more frozen blueberries or banana to make it thicker, or more almond milk to thin it out.

And now, I am hongry.

AND Big BIG Congrats to katholeenie!! Woooty HOo HOOO!

Theia - my sis hasn't been secretly training, but she gets to a race and she goes for it, with or without training.  She may be disabled the next day, but she will really push herself during the race.  I apparently do not share that gene.  She must have taken all the competitive genes in utero.  heh.  I'm alternating between being excited and being terrified about the Mudder.

Also, amazingly, my back felt GOOD during the Power 45 class.  It seized a little while I was blow drying my hair afterward, and it's still weird on the left side.  What I think I need is that chiropractic sciatic pretzel pop move they do.  Mebbe some yoga too.  :D Ohmmmm

Namaste friends!

Goon - she'll be okay.  Didn't you say she just ran a half?

On another note, my heart just exploded.
