((Parker family)) I know it wasn't unexpected, but that doesn't make it easy. Please let us know if there's anything we can do to make it easier.

Slow morning?

Since I thought Spring Break was this week, and it's not, I have to teach this week AND entertain my friend. She's certainly self-sufficient, but I feel bad that I'm at the university until lunch. Thankfully, my graduate students wanted to get out of class this week, so we arranged to have class at the bar next week and cancel this week's class, which will give them more time to get other stuff done and let me leave the office 5.5 hours early on Wednesday. That makes me happy.

I'm really sorry for your loss, Kevin and Tonya.

I had a nice time in Halifax last week at my conference. It was good to get away, get the brain moving. Did a bit of shopping, too.

Yesterday I did a 5k race and finished in just under a half hour. Certainly not as fast as last year's, but I'm ok with meeting my goal.

It was a gorgeous weekend for weather. I took Lena out for a run in the stroller on saturday and we ended up at the park.

She goes back to the doc today for a check up. She finished her latest round of meds but she's still quite sick so I'm thinking a trip to the ear specialist will be in order. She may have to get tubes. *sigh*

Evelyn is 3 months old today! She slept through the night for the first time on friday but hasn't done it again since. Oh well, it's a start!

Maureen, that dress is really sweet! I like it!

Morning peeps.

Waiting for my phone to ring for a phone interview...scheduled at 11, but my recruiter said be prepared early, just in case.

I also have a meeting with HR for the other job, because I need to fill out the application paperwork and meet with them apparently, as part of the application process.

All good.

Losing someone close to you is always hard even when it's expected. Kevin & Tonya, I'm so sorry for your loss.

Fun. I was a part of my friends, Loreli & Ed's wedding yesterday. She wore a vintage 50's wedding dress. We all had our hair done in vintage styles and she drove her 67 nova station wagon to the church. The guys wore tuxes with black high top Chuck Taylors. We almost didn't get there on time as the car didn't want to start and kept stalling. We had a blast! They made their wedding unique to themselves with every last detail.

Kevin & Tonya - my thoughts are with you both.

Mmmmmmm. Yoooooooogurt...

Gus is licking the floor below me. Not sure what that's about, as I haven't dropped anything.

Have to take him to the vet for a check up in a bit, but we're not seeing the hawt vet because he is intimidated by shepherds. It's because of stupid stuff he did around them when he was a kid - Gus has never done anything to him. But since he is bigger than normal.... HawtVet appreciates that I take him to see Dr Sue (our neighbor's sister, who works at the same place) instead.

I'm not a huge fan of shepherds myself...ever since one attached itself to my leg while I was running by his house.

Oh no... it was his own doing, which he fully admits. He provoked the dog and the dog reacted.

Gus licks Dr Sue, and lets her do whatever, even with me in the room.

Just got a notice from unemployment. Apparently I've "been selected to participate in an individualized program designed to you return to work."

Orientation is Thursday (4 hours) which is mandatory, as is participation in any other assessment sessions and subsequent reemployment services to which I am referred.

Has anyone else had to do this?

I wonder if I take the binder I got from the find-a-job classes I took 2 years ago would get me out of this?

Am taking DS to get his hair cut this afternoon. He hasn't had it touched since Sept. This should be interesting.

Hi all - I'm still awaiting the caseload that has been promised us here at work. Good news is my co-worker is back, but it's still a carpload of stuff to deal with down the road.

Continued good thoughts to you ((((Kevin & Tonya and family))))

Maureen - hope the job interview went well!

I can sense a new food streak starting - froyo. The weather's getting warmer, and Tuttimelon has opened up both close to work and home. Love love love those places that have good quality froyo plus do-it-yourself toppings

Froyo? Are you freezing hobbits?

YEEEEHAW!!!!

I just got off the phone with Maggie, the potter who organizes the sales. I sent them all an email about what is involved with establishing an identity for the group, and she called me back saying what I talked about is exactly what she wants and she is ALL IN.

I was expecting to have overwhelmed them (I did some of them) and possibly have stepped on some toes. No smooshed toes, so YAY! And even bigger YAY for no resistance to the plan!!!

Kath, that's great!

So...

I got a 2nd interview at the consulting firm I talked to today (HUGE firm, doing KM work.) And I'm going into the U on Thurs to meet with the HR people. Finally I'm getting some interviews and interest.

Thank you, God, all the saints, Buddha, Allah, Krishna, et al.

thanks, Maria! I'm not sure the 2nd job is really 1) something I want to do, and 2) whether I want to go back to a consulting firm, but frankly, I need a job...even if it means looking for something else after I get one.

the 2nd place will pay bigger money, around what I was making when I lost my job. But the uni probably has a better work environment and benefits.

thanks again for all the thoughts/wishes gang, means the world to me how this group rallies in times of joy and sorrow.
