Morning. Still working my way back from the stupid virus I had. I feel like I could run today, for the first time in a week. Now I just need to get some time to run tonight!

BigG - I think I have the same birth defect

Me too, sister!!

I would LOVE to have you in class! So stinking fun, for me anyway. You might not love the part where I'm torturing you.

Ah ... gotcha, thanks, Jill. My v1.0 PRs are no longer within reach, so I just do my best and if I happen to get a v2.0 PR, that's cool. No strategy, though. I'm not smart enough for that; I just weave my way up through the field.

Jen, I can't tell you how many times I've come back form early morning trail runs/rides wearing a spider-silk mask/hairnet. The "nice" thing is pulling a "leaf" out of your hair in the shower and watching it unfold and crawl away.

Funny, my reaction was usually, "Oh, Hi there!!!"

well, I slacked off and didn't run last night but tonight, assuming it's not (f#cking) raining, my friend and I are running...with a local running club. We will be bring up the rear, no doubt.

That would be my reaction as well. And then I'd try to save the little dude or dudette from drowning. Pretty much all critters are saved in the Theia house.

I had a spiderweb on my face so bad last week that the spider was still in it, dangling off my hat in front of my face.

Mornin' I'm flying out to STL tonight to meet up with some college girlfriends for a girls weekend at the lake. Won't be driving down to meet them until tomorrow morning so will shoot for a shortie run tonight and a longer one tomorrow morning. Let's hope STL isn't 100* again

Hey all - 5.65 km (that's a little over 3.5 mi) of intervals in just a right about 32 min. I'm kinda' trying to get back up to speed but also nursing a tweaky medial quad muscle. Funny thing is I like my CMT back home so much, I'm reluctant to give one here a try (and I'm not even talking those foot reflexology type joints that are a dime a dozen here.) I probably will though for sure next week.

I definitely will need a Theia-type class once I'm given the full green light to do that stuff. It's been really sucky not being able to do anything like that the past month-plus.

Anyway, good runs, workouts or rest days to you all.

Well, let's not get carried away, here ... I mean I would gladly assist her to an open window if that's where she's headed [most adult spiders are girls, the dudes don't make it long] but I'm not going to "Extraordinary Measures" if she's going down the drain, either

spider assisters: I don't kill them...but I will NOT be aiding any of them in any way, because they freak.me.the.f.out.

I love them. I think they're so cool! Plus they eat other bugs. Plus I name them all Charlotte and talk to them while I'm rescuing/relocating them.

Funny - at the building where I work here, it seemed like I was dealing with creatures with more than 4-legs all day. Besides two or three mosquitoes, I had four bees and a couple of moths to deal with.

Anyone notice this article in the WSJ (not your typical source for fitness news for certain)? I guess the bad economy is causing average race times to drop because people don't have anything better to do (kind of a no-brainer to me, actually...)

6 easy miles through the hilly part of town early this morning -- it was still pretty quiet -- and then 18.5 miles on the bike. The weather is gorgeous out there.

moon - i've been sort of out of it around here lately, so forgive me if I should know this, but did you race yet over there?

My fear of spiders stems from one of my brothers and one of my sisters pinning me down and putting spiders on my face until I had a complete meltdown...and, then they did it some more. Oh, the joys of the being the youngest in a large family.

I don't kill them, I know they do good, but I also won't get near 'um.

I think there were so many today since I was most certainly the first person out on the path.

Now, the opossums just freak me out in general and I stay out of their way.

I joked the other day that I'm part possum...when I get really anxious or upset...I become what can best be described as narcoleptic. I crash in a hard way and need to sleep. I mean, immediately. Can't keep my eyes open. Very weird.

Opossums totally freak me out... they used to try and get into grandma's chicken cages all the time. On sleepovers w/g'ma I was always convinced we'd wake up and the mean ole crew o' opossums would have gotten to the chicks before we had a chance to save 'em.

Ugh. I just had three slices of pizza for lunch. Today's a day off from running, so it's probably not a good thing to be taking in so many calories right now. And it's probably really bad that I'm thinking about slice #4...

Got out for 7 miles at lunch in 1:01:46 (8:49/mile). I ran the Shithouse Route, which is on the Towpath Trail right between the city's composting facility and wastewater treatment plant. Yikes! Got a little warm -- sunny and 77*F. I thought about doing 10 miles, but decided 7 would be just dandy. I've got a shed to finally (hopefully) finish putting up tonight.

Pffft. Amateur!

Ann, last year just before a marathon i had a calf injury and was relegated to the bike for a few weeks. i think it made a huge improvement in my turnover rate - but you can't just go for a liesurly stationary ride. I rode mostly at a resistance setting of 13 (max 25) at 105 rpm and did 30 second intervals every 5 minutes at a setting of 21 or 22 at 105-115 rpm.

Jill, that's great about getting back to the racing thing. you must be chomping at the bit. why not toss in a 5K soon to curb the anxiety a little?

ok, i'm heading out to my car to get my running stuff. i need some miles. this work thing is dominating me.

does anyone use an exercise ball for their work chair? all day or just for parts of the day?

Joker's Wild Half-marathon is on Sunday morning, and I'm going to cheer on a friend, if you have nothing better to do.

I found this article in the NY Times today about an ultra-marathoner who had brain surgery to stop seizures. She has no sense of how long she has been or needs to continue running, which I assume is useful for an ultra runner!

Today is an off day from running, but I did about 2.5 hours of yoga and stretching so I'm feeling very elastic today. Going to try to do another 2 hours of cardio tonight, but I may wimp out. Or die.

At my old job, I sat on an exerball all day and I loved it. It was great for my back. New job doesn't allow sitting on exerballs.

Prae, woman you have really been putting the time in on the workouts! woo hoo for you!!
