The big lake is Upper Kananaskis Lake.  Our trail started at the end of the road at middle right and followed the edge of the lake across the avalanche / scree slopes and descended into the valley at the top middle left.  From there it settled some way behind the spur of that mountain at middle left, in all about 7.4 - 7.6 km first night. 

 

Setting out from Interlakes day use area.  Yeah, we know, there are Grizzly about.
