Earlier this year I took a picture of a "letter" on a wall mural in Carcasonne, thinking to use it as part of a present. The missus this past week went to an arts and crafts fair where a photographer had "found" letters in dozens of pictures and had laminated them. Put them together and you have a "Honey Do" task.
Without giving too much away, we scanned hundreds of digital pictures, cropped and resized (they are all square, 2560x2560) printed and laminated.
Here is an example, cropped from a larger macro shot I had of ice on the forest floor...
Doesn't look great, but it prints wonderfully. As I said, I'll post the final results AFTER Christmas. No fair peaking Mom...

Very cool. I assume that's the letter A. I remember a photography class assignment where each student was assigned a letter of the alphabet & sent out to photograph images & likeness of the letter but not the actual letter itself (as on a sign or placard). My buddy who was i the class had the letter J. He took some really cool photos of a street lamp with his shutter open & he moved the the camera to "write" the letter J with the light on his image. It took him many shots to perfect, but the result was pretty fun.
Good luck with your project. Looking forward to seeing the finished product.

I have thought about doing this project just for giggles and grins. I think it would be a good way to just get out and SEE. I love your letter A, Grizz and RNYT - I like that your E can be any or all of the above!
Okay, so here are the ones for Josef. Let's see if this works, as they do scan or read better horizontally. They are this size, laminated and connected on the back so that they can either stand alone on a table or hang from the wall.
J: Taken from my Opa's violin.
O: A plaque on a wall in Rennes-le-chateau in Languedoc France.
S: Cropped from a photograph of the Prisoner of Conscience candle in Salisbury Cathedral.
E: Cropped from a photograph of a Roman floor mosaic - British Museum, London.
F: Cropped from a picture of grasses and leaves trapped in ice - Rocky Mountain foothills west of Calgary.

But but....that's an F-Hole!
Yeah, but sometimes an f is a j. My rules. Especially when cropped.
