6 pears - i use comice or bosc, peeled, cored, and cut into chunks
1 bag of cranberries, rinsed and picked through
2 cinnamon sticks
1/3 c brown sugar
rind of 1/2 orange
juice of 1 orange

in a large sauce pan, combine all ingredients. cook over low heat until the pears are soft, and all of the cranberries have burst. remove the cinnamon sticks before serving.

I haven't seen a cranberry sauce with pears before. Looks good! I like that it uses brown sugar. That must add a richer flavor.

Is this a side dish cranberry sauce or do you put it on stuff? It looks wonderful!

i serve it as a side dish, genie.

'though it's quite good if you dice the pears, add a drop of red wine, some crystallized ginger (in which case i use honey instead of brown sugar), and then cook as directed in the recipe to serve with lamb or pork.
