It's a race report like this one and crunningman's leadville dnf that makes me like 'exteme running'.

I hope kate's ok. She wrote a pretty detailed report, so she must be doing better.

I just read that story, too. What an amazing tale, and scary, too. Sounds like she did the right thing and allowed people to help her as opposed to being stubborn. I lived in Oregon for a few years and traveled the Pass many times. I can just imagine how amazing the race was! And also how difficult it was!!

Before I vote to change the current forum name, could someone define "Extreme Running" for me? I want to belong, but I'm not nearly as extreme as many of you...yet.

I like this best, so far.

Its an actual place, where many (if not all) of us have been to. "Let's meet at The Trailhead."

If trail running and ultrarunning is the forum focus, this is the best fit.

Not sure what "Extreme Running" means.

Trail running, to me, is not necessarily extreme.

I want to know why none of my recommendations made the list of options.

meri, I added "The Trailhead" to the poll.

This is a good one, plus it fits Rich's theme!

I voted "other" and now that "The Trailhead" is an option, that's what I'd like you to count my vote towards. I cannot recast my vote in the poll.

IMHO anything longer than a marathon and/or off road runs are out of the "normal" running cycle. When people think of running they picture 5k and 10k runs primarily. 1/2 marathons and marathons are considered somewhat eccentric. But beyond 26.2 and trail running require a different thought process even among runners. Running 50k and longer races as well as trail runs have various dangers often thought of as foolhardy even by runners. After all, how many people think of running through woods, poison ivy, over snakes, rocks and being careful not to trip over a ravine as just a normal run.

Sounds a little extreme to me.
