Nothing like a good cup of coffee to start your day off right…or RESTART your day off right. LOL It’s really too bad this isn’t a good cup of coffee…something about the water here or the coffee they buy here at work that is never quite as comforting as what I drink at home…
Since I started running I have worn Asics…1110, 2110, 2120 (which I hated), 2130, (2) kayanos. I wore Asics because the guy who was coaching me said to wear Asics. I had never even heard of Asics before, so I had no idea why Asics were good, but since he had RACKS of them and he was a super bad ass runner, I figured he knew what he was talking about. So I’ve been loyal to Asics because that’s what I knew to do. (and they were good shoes)
I haven’t had a coach since January and I’ve been wanting to try a different shoe, so yesterday I broke with my blind loyalty to Asics and bought a pair of New Balance 740s. I slid my foot into them. I felt cushioning in the heel. WOW! They were a little bit roomier too. I laced them up and sat there for a while to see what my feet thought about the introduction of a stranger. No immediate complaints.
This morning I took them for a test drive. 2 miles. So far so good. They feel different and I’m still trying to get the lacing just right as I’m pretty anal about how tight or loose they feel.
It’s gonna take some adjusting and getting used to, just like the many other things going on my life. Funny how my running is kind of paralleling my life. Should I put this under “running” or “personal ”?
I am certain that your success as a runner, and in all things is due more to the strength of your fighting spirit than anything else. Seabee
