Thanks all! Congrats, Boston runners! Good luck, Lloyd and Andrea!

My Boston went pretty much as planned. Paced for 3:20, through the half within a few seconds of 1:40, kicked it up after Heartbreak to come in at 3:18:06. A little weird not racing it for once, but mostly that just meant it was a regular Boston, with all the excitement, but none of the stress.

I was thinking 3:20 at Boston, 3:30 at Country Music, and 3:40 at Big Sur, knocking off a couple minutes somewhere, to beat last year's combined time of 10:28:19 for those three races. So far so good...

I wound up at no less than five pre- and post-race gatherings, and had to skip another one because it conflicted with one I was at. Didn't make it back to my room to shower post-race until after dinner, 3rd post-race gathering. Apologies to those around me!

My biggest worries going into this weekend are (1) weather -- we have thunderstorms with possible large hail and tornadoes forecast in Nashville, and (2) toes. Somehow I banged up both big toes pretty thoroughly in Boston. Basically, blisters under each big toenail, which I'm trying to keep drained, but it's a challenge. I can get through CMM, but I'm not looking forward to how the toes will feel at Big Sur. If I can even get there... there is exactly one flight to Monterey, connecting in Denver, and I'm sure flights out of Nashville will be very messed up tomorrow. Crossing my fingers.

Good luck, roots, SGH, and bhearn -- and I hope you make it to Monterey! Can you fly into San Jose instead, if worse comes to worse?

Thanks! Yeah, San Jose will definitely be something I'll ask about if the Monterey connection is out.

Bhearn, good luck to you. Nice job "coasting" it in @ 3:18 in Boston. Hope the toes hold up for you. And I hope the tornadoes are not a factor. Would make for a **** of a race pic though, outrunning a tornado!

Ouch - I feel for you. I have a toe issue going on and it really hurt to run yesterday. Hopefully you can just block out the pain. Excellent job with that 3:18 - go get 'em!

I have no idea how he does it, but bhearn just finished the CMM in 3:28:32. Just a bit ahead of the goal, just like Monday.

And I was very lucky to do so, too. Anyone on pace for about 3:45 or slower was diverted to the finish at M22, due to thunderstorms. I'm not so optimistic about 3:40 tomorrow, though. 3:30 here was tougher than it should have been -- no doubt the 70s temps and 100% humidity. But Big Sur is a much tougher course, and I won't have 5 days' rest.

I ran into another Marathon Maniac at the finish who was also going for Boston / CMM / Big Sur! I'd thought I was the only one. Unfortunately he didn't make the cutoff today.

Thank you!

Just a quick check-in as we just got to hotel. roots ran an incredible 2:54:58 (winning his AG too!) and I was 3:37:22 (with a negative split). Both our goals met and new PRs. We are so fortunate to have had a good day to run.

It's been great having the camraderie and support in this thread - I thought of you awesome peeps out there especially those with races coming up still!

Have faith in you and the things you do.
