I am training for the Ogden Marathon, and I'm about 7 weeks out. I'm using the training schedule at, and did 14 miles last Saturday. I've been sick all week, and haven't run at all. I might be able to make it out for a few miles on Saturday, but that remains to be seen.

Can I just skip the week? I still have 4 long runs (16, 17, 18, 20) on the schedule. Should I try to make up some of the middle distance runs on a day that I'm only scheduled to run 4 or 5 miles? Make up the long run? This is my first marathon, so I'm a little nervous about it. Any advice would be appreciated, thanks in advance.

Sucks being sick during training.
Don't stress it. Get healthy.
It is better to be a little under-trained and well than sick and tired but right on schedule come marathon day.
I would run easy what you feel like Saturday or take the day off without guilt if you need it. The runs for week 10 are similar in length and it leaves all your runs 17 and longer in place.
You can't make up missed runs.
You've done great building up over the past two months. Get over this cold, get back on schedule and have a great marathon!

It depends on what kind of sick you are. If the sick is above the neck, you can continue to train. Below the neck, no way. They say the optimal training cycle for long runs is 10 days, so since you ran 14 last Saturday, you are safe to do your long run on Wednesday. The key is your health.

Thanks for the advice. I decided to skip the run yesterday. If I didn't have a sinus headache it would have been fine to do a couple of miles. I'm going to the doctor tomorrow so hopefully I can get back on track this week. Glad to know that my training hasn't been blown by this.
