At least, that's what they call it 'round these parts.

I don't know why I was worried about oversleeping - I woke up 20 minutes before both alarms went off. And I could not have hand-picked a better forecast: cool with a tailwind.

Good ones, all.

Morning Ellen, couldn't agree more that it's going to be a great day.

I'm on the bus now, almost to Hopkinton. Had my cinnamon dolce latte and bagel to wake myself up, now knocking down a gatorade. First stop after the drops us - gear check. Then it's off to the TNT house for a while.

Excited? Yes. Nervous? No. I'm ready to rock.

Hawk- steady nerves! If I ever make it to Boston, I'd prolly be hurling on that bus! I know you are gonna own it!

Ruiz- enjoy the rest, wish u couldve ran in Nashville this weekend.

I'm holding over at work this morning, so I'll have to do an easy 3 this afternoon

Go Boston Runners Go!

Virtually running along with all the runners I'm tracking will be my only mileage today - rest day here. I'll hit the gym after work though.

Have faith in you and the things you do.

GO BOSTON RUNNERS!!!

Rest day here. And most likely a day off for my kids, too, as I watch/track the race.

Go Boston Marathoners!!!

As much as I am bummed to not be running this year, I am still very excited to "spectate" virtually!

Did my 8-mile mountain road run this morning -- first real run since the marathon -- felt very good. My dog and I jogged a bit over the weekend as well.

Those of you who run with your dogs, how did you train them? My dog is just over a year old now so figured he was ready to start. He is freakishly tall and thin, and sprints all around our backyard. So, I thought he would be a natural runner, but he seemed to have no desire to go above 9:00-10:00 pace. We did about 2.5 miles in 26 minutes. He seemed comfortable the whole time and was really good on the leash, just showed no interest in going faster than a jog... will he eventually pick up the pace???

Hey loopy - Maybe your dog is smart and did not want to over due it on its 1st run ... Better to be patent and see. It mihgt take asome time to build stamina and speed ... Hmmm sounds like I am giving advice to a 2 legged person.

Morning folks...

Good luck racers. I'm going to have a great day following you all! Thanks!

Loopy - 4boys may have some thoughts here but I'm not sure that 1year is old enough for a pup to start running. Check it out with your vet.

Have a good day runners and resters.

Best wishes Boston runners.

45 degrees with a 15mph tailwind doesn't suck at all!

loopy--depends on the breed/size of the dog. A large breed dog may not be done growing at 12mos. Also, a greyhound is great for a 400meter sprint, worthless for anything further. A sled dog is great for an all day trot. My Great Pyrenees was my first running partner. She was quite happy running 12miles at a 12:00pace. My little hound dog is only good for an easy walk a block/run a block. Regardless, you have to build the dog up just like you do any runner--start out short and slow and build from there. You need to watch the dog for any sign of injury/fatigue. They see you as the alpha and will do anything to please you, even if that means running through pain/fatigue.

Thanks 4BM!

He is a standard poodle. As I said, he seems a bit taller/skinnier than the average standard poodle. He is a little over 13 months old.

I was being careful to make sure he seemed comfortable. He seemed to be showing no signs of discomfort, just seemed to want to stay at about 10 minute pace...

Will definitely take it slow and will ask my vet about it -- also have a brother who is a vet so can ask him.

Thanks again all...

Best wishes to the marathoners!

Loop, that dog of yours isn't real into PRs, VO2 max and all that stuff...maybe a good sound beating with a stick will help? maybe not.

Got in 7 easy miles yesterday...left knee still acts funny now and then and did again yesterday, early on...fine by the end...a good run.

I'm a Denier...

Go BOSTON PEEPS! Thanks so much for checking in, ellen and Hawk. We're all with you. Just paid $4.99 to watch the race live on Universal. Tracking you through the BAA website. Got coffee, cereal, a soft chair and fluffy robe. Trial prep can wait!

Good runs and races to everyone!

Good morning everyone. I got online to universalsports.com and purchased the Boston/London Marathon package so I would be able to watch the marathon this morning. Women are 17 minutes into the race.

I got out and pushed myself today. On schedule was 5X2 minutes and I decided to do 6. All was done by pace.

6:53; 6:53; 6:25; 6:34; 6:36;6:40

Now I am ready to rest and relax this morning. Good luck to our boston runners who are now getting ready to take off.

Thanks for the link, loopy!

I did 5.1 miles while pushing Ezra in the stroller. May get in a couple more miles later.

Ask your doctor if getting off your ass is right for you.
