My mom is a breast cancer survivor. Doing the Susan Koman 5K walk is a big deal to her. She's done it before with no problem. This year just short of the finish...

I did the Komen 5K on Sunday, it was a beautiful day. They only had one water station along the way and I was getting thirsty towards the end. The walks goes around the perimeter of a large park and then ends going into the park. Just after we got in the park I kind of lost my balance, reached out to steady myself on the woman in front of me. Went on for a little further and this time I could not catch my balance - some people helped me down so I didn't get hurt. They would not let me get up. The Tucson Fire Dept paramedics were there in about 2 minutes. They helped me off the course, had me sit on a curb. They checked me out - ekg, blood sugar, oxygen sat, etc and asked lots of questions. I think it was a combination of things. My neuropathy in my feet from chemo has been giving me some trouble again with balance and I was dehydrated. They got me 2 bottles of watr to drink. I finally asked if I could get off the curb - with help. They wanted a volunteer to take me to where my friends were but I told them I was so close to the end that I wanted to finish and get my medal. So, the volunteer took my arm and walked with me to the finish line. She also took pictures for me. When I got back to where my friends were - sitting under a tent. I stayed there as I still felt a little light headed. I was fine afterwards.

I'm glad she was ok. Like mother like daughter, you two are two strong and determined women.

Glad to see she's smiling.

P.S. My mom was a breast cancer survivor, too.

Wow - what an amazing testimony of the strong desire to finish. 4BM you are blessed with a wonderful mom! Hope she is doing well.
