watched the new running movie. It was okay. Everyone in it sounded stoned. Really weird. The movie was missing something, but i cannot put my finger on it.

Goo Morning.

Almost the solstice. I will not get depressed that this means 6 months of diminishing daylight. I will not.

Up at 4:40 or so, out onto my hill for a very solitary, very comforting, very SLOW run of 7.1 or so miles in 74 minutes. I did tell you I was slow.

At that time of the day the light, or rather the quality of the light is astounding. Different from dusk which is a bit dustier somehow.

There's nothing like running through knee high grass that as far as the eye can see is turned to liquid gold by the rising sun. Nothing.

Even if I'm slow.

Purveyor of Awesome since 1958.

20k on my bike over a very hilly road last night. Then 3.4 miles on the TM this morning. I plan to go for 8 or 9 miles tonight.

3.8 mile recovery run. I love short, easy recovery runs. No pressure to get up early. No worries about being late. No pressure to run fast.

Grizz, that just made my day. The way you write just makes everything seem great, who cares if you were even moving if you had that image in front of you. Keep it up!

No run last night though I definitely wanted to. I got stuck doing the clock at the girl's summer league for 6 games since no one else was there...oh well, more community service.

I haven't posted a run here in months. I'm just now getting back up to three mile runs at a very slow pace. It's hard not to get discouraged when I remember where I was just a couple years ago. I have a long way to go, but am on my way!

Anyway... three-ish mile run at lunch today on the trail.

I planned to do 10 today, but my body was completely uncooperative. My legs are sore, tight, and unresponsive. I didn't even last a mile on the treadmill this morning. I said screw having a rotten run and went home. I've never bailed on a run like that before.

A thunderstorm came through and left drizzle and nice cool 70 degree temperatures, so I headed outside after that for 6 painful, slow miles. I was still having a rotten run physically but was glad to be outside running in the rain, looking at people's flowerbeds and having a duck family quack at me.

Am I allowed to blame PMS for poor running?

Have faith in you and the things you do.

sgh: the fact that you have never bailed on a run like that before means you were probably right in following your instincts. You're not likely to do it lightly.

frogdoc: congrats on getting out there. I'm still so relieved not to be pregnant anymore that I find I really look forward to my runs.

As for me, 6 miles in 58:49. With a 2 hour break between miles 2 and 3 after Easy woke up.

Ask your doctor if getting off your ass is right for you.

SGH- yes, i have had some pretty horrible runs during PMS time. Guys do not know how lucky they are in that respect. I have had runs where i am dragging so much and have to struggle to put one foot in front of the other. Next day aunt flo comes and i run like a gazelle.

3 miles on the trails. Lovely breeze, 73. Couldn't ask for a nicer evening to run in the woods.

MERRIMACK RIVER TRAIL

The plan tonight was to do 14 miles. I decided to it on the trail. Like other times that I have done 14 on the trail, I ran the 5 miles out then 2 miles back then 2 miles back out to mile 5 then back to the start.

For those familiar with the trail, that means I did the repeat on the hilly part of the course.

Legs were a little tired tonight, and it was definitely humid.

Wildlife report tonight was 1 jackrabbit and 4 ducks. Also 4 ticks that I took off my legs after the run!

Was all set to run the 200M at today's track meet. Was running well at about 50M coming out of the turn and felt a twinge in the right hammy. I slowed down a hair, but the twinge got worse and I just had to shut it down. Icing it now.

I don't think it's serious. Just a combination of stupidly sprinting at the Mass Sr Games Saturday, an 8.6 mile run Sunday, hard track workout last night. Sprinting and distance running are a bad mix, but I can't stop doing either. sad.gif
