I came home from running a quick errand to see my wife with a sad face. She had the fun job of telling me my mom died that morning. She had been sick for a fairly long time so I think I was more ready for that news than when my sister died. So for those of you keeping track, yes I had lost both my Sister and my Mom just 15 days apart.

See I do own shirts and jackets!

At times she was a tough mom but she was always fair, It was her way or no way at all.

When I first told her I was going to try a run a 50K she thought I was nuts. When I would tell her about my training she always called it the Stupid race, but lo and behold I actually won that stupid race. My parents were even at the house that day when I called home to tell my wife I had won. She had a nice smile and said congratulations when I came home. She did make me shower before I got a hug from her though.

I am sure I have other stories but at the moment I am drawing a blank on them.

I still miss her.

Sorry dude... Hold onto those memories.

I lost my mother 18 years ago and I can tell you, it does not get any easier.

Dear Eric,

I am so sorry for the pain that you have but please embrace the love that you still have and the power of knowing that your mom was a great force in determining the man you have become.

Eric,

My time is coming close to being in your shoes. Both my parents hit 70 this year and DW's are in their early 80's. I am still stinging from losing my grandmother 5+ yrs ago.

It never gets easier.

she sounds like she was a good lady ... and losing two close relatives so quickly

the PRT is not somewhere to drop my morals and ethics and roll in the mud and muck and pretend those I am talking to aren't really people at all and it's alright to treat them like dirt.

I became an orphan 12 years ago when my mom, a good Irish lady, picked St Patrick's Day to go on to the next life. Good choice for her.

If there's fun in the afterlife I'm betting she's having a whale of a time.
