I went for a run and managed 2.87 miles before I felt ITB twinges. So I just walked the remaining .13 to my car. It was 57 degrees!

Yeah, I have been stretching more, and it seems to help. The only thing is that I can't really feel it when I'm stretching, but oh well.

That's what I used to do when I had problems with ITB.

I'd just run as far as I could until I started to feel it.

Eventually..it went away.

I did 12 today and wore shorts.... temps in the lower 40's

Yesterday I ran 3, uphill, in the snow, one way, downhill in the snow on the way back. Like running in soft sand. My ass is now sore.

Today, getting ready to meet running buddy to run 4, which should not be as snowy, though there are some hills.

I ran 2 last night.

Dan, how long did it take for it to go away? It's very tiresome!

I'm still a bit mystified by the fact that it surfaced at all. I had worked my way up to 8 miles for the long run without any issue. Then the next week on my 9 mile run, I had serious ITB pain from 6 onwards. And of course I made it worse by not stopping and walking but finishing the loop anyway.

Maybe a few months? This was when I was training for my first Flying Pig which was in 1998-99 so I'm a little sketchy on the details.

I stopped training for a few weeks and then ran something like 1-2 miles and then increased it a little more each time until I was up to like 12 miles or something.

Unfortunately that was right before the marathon.

But back then I was too stupid to know that you can't run a marathon when your longest run was 12 miles.

I did finish with no ITB issues. I was quite sore however. It took me a few days until I could walk correctly
