Yay! Our first Winter! We were told we probably wouldn't get snow here until after the first of the year, but this storm (same one that brought snow to Eric in SF!) is turning our home into a winter wonderland!

This is our FIRST, so please forgive our overexcitedness!

And this is the view from the living room!

Okay, place your bets on how long we'll be smiling!

Oh, and I bet you will stop smiling the third time you have to shovel the driveway in a week.

Yes and no. The SoCal house is getting lots of rain. The Central Cali house is currently getting lots of snow. And it's cold, but I don't dare complain about temps to those of you who really know what winter is all about.

The good news is that this stuff should all be gone by Wednesday or Thursday. So no shoveling this time. Another warmer storm is expected and the snow level will raise to 6K feet or so (we're at 4K).

Only one month though?! I was thinking we'd last at least one winter.

Naaaaaaay. A couple of hours of making life difficult is all it takes around here to get people pissed off. You should have seen the fights over parking spots that happened last winter when it kept piling up. A month of that would spark running gun battles in the states.

Whoa - that would a lot of snow. I'm not sure there's that much money left in SoCal to host a party like that.

no, silly, you leave something in your parking spot to reserve it, like a chair.

My parents have snow too at ~4000 feet north of you! When I left at 4 PM yesterday there was a bit of snow already on the ground. It rarely snows this early in the year.

We drove up last night, knowing that snow was expected today. We started seeing some fluffy white things falling from the sky at around 11:00 pm, and at about 3K feet. About 15 minutes after we got here, it really started coming down (phew!) and at first it looked like freezing rain, then it turned to snow. It doesn't seem like it snowed all night, so I'm not sure when it really got started, but those photos are from about 10:30 this morning. We now have about 7 1/2 inches and it's still coming down!

We're still smiling, but we haven't had to go to the woodshed for more wood yet!

Chair? What chair? I didn't see a chair. Besides, even if there was a chair there hypothetically, its a public street. I can park where I want. Just because you spent hours creating that parking spot and maintaining it during the winter gives you no rights to its use.......

Well, we got a total of 8 inches and as the sun was going down, it was clearing up. It is currently 23F, and tomorrow should be sunny, but not a lot warmer. Hopefully, the snow will stick around for a day or two.

We're STILL smiling!

I have waterproof hiking boots up here, but that's all! We have some ski clothes/gear somewhere (back behind all of our Christmas Decos I think?), but we thought we had more time to find all that stuff and move it up here.
