I'm am one of those who has to get up extra early to be there for you. I can't take a full Thanksgiving holiday out of town because it's mandatory to be there for Black Friday. Please keep that in mind when you are shopping and say Thank you for the sacrifices that others make for you.

that is all

Good post.

Today the Starbuck's was open, and my sister asked me to pick up some coffee on the way back from the Turkey Trot. I thanked the folks working there. I think it sucks to have to work on Thanksgiving Day.

I think it sucks to have to be at work at 5am. would have liked to have visited folks out of town but taking black friday off is guaranteed getting fired

my neice and her hubby are both working tomorrow ... she's at Office Depot and he's at Mennards ... they actually LIKE working black friday

sorry you can't get out of it somehow, sometimes at least ... I like the convenience of having stores open on Sundays/holidays when I forget something and want it ... but I applaud those that choose to be more family friendly and refuse to open on those days

the PRT is not somewhere to drop my morals and ethics and roll in the mud and muck and pretend those I am talking to aren't really people at all and it's alright to treat them like dirt.

DH worked tonight and a double tomorrow for Black Friday. A lot of people go to the movies.

Thank you Chele! It's hard working retail. 4th quarter sucks for the workers. Long hours and bitchy people.

No kidding. People are really rude when they shop.

Be nice to the retail people the whole holiday season, not just tomorrow!!!

(I worked retail during breaks in college. Which is why I don't like the general public. )

I always liked working Black Friday... so much busier, time passed quicker, way fun...

I normally don't shop, but I did this morning after finding myself awake at 2 am because I went to bed at 7... It is crazy out there.

My brother works at Walgreens and hasn't had a holiday off in since he started there a couple of years ago. They are one of the places open on Thanksgiving and Christmas.

Thank you, Chele, for the reminder!!

My brother works retail and we NEVER see them for any holiday. I personally think it would be better if we could have "Black Saturday" or "Black Monday" or something instead.

DH had to work all day yesterday and all day today, and then tonight starts a week of night float. I'm grateful that he's a good doctor and can take care of people when they need it... but I wish people could get sick on non-holiday days. Oh well.

Thanks! I made a point of being extra polite to those who were assisting me this morning, and I got out of their way as quickly as possible.

Crazy days. I have NEVER shopped a black friday sale. In fact I've always avoided the malls/stores/shops for the time immediately following Thanksgiving and just before Christmas. Chele and I went shopping (just people watching and walking really) yesterday afternoon after she got off work - [OH, and she drove Frankentruck there - you'll have to ask about that]
I worked Walmart loss prevention a few moons ago as a second job. Black Friday and the entire Christmas season was a ..... hmmmmmm........... experience.
Hugs and thanks to all those who have to deal with that.

Construimus Batuimus.
