I was running this morning- I go to pass a street that's fed by an off ramp from an elevated highway.
I check the lights- they're red my way- but it's quarter to 6 in the morning and I don't see any cars, so I continue running across the street... Until I see a car barreling down the offramp at highway speed- I check my peripheral vision- he's got an orange light and was gunning to make it.

He slams on the brakes.

He's not stopping- it's just the screech of tires for what seems like an endless 5 seconds- in the meantime- I'm pick UP speed- so by the time he'd get to where I am now- I'd be on the curb.

Still- that moment of "Oh ****. A truck- heading right for me. At high speed."

Scared the living **** out of me.

What has put your heart in your throat lately?

DH1 out to get you again?

I was at work on Tuesday and one of the child care workers said "Call the police, we're missing a child"

We scoured everywhere. We called the mom who hadn't picked her up.

Kid's sister came in and picked her up without signing her out. Didn't tell the mom that she was going to do it.

Whole ordeal was about 15 min.

glad you're OK. I like peanut butter, but not the "natural" kind.

I had a similar scare on my bike last weekend - jerkoff in an SUV pulled up to a stop sign at a high rate of speed and pulled a bit farther forward than he should without looking left at all... I swerved and I think he missed me by less than a foot. Scared the crap out of me.

Please. We all know that's not your typical MO. You usually like to take out a few innocents- nuclear assplosion downtown, the release of an engineered lethal virus, Hand grenade in a crowded mall. Mastermind stuff like that!
The blowing through a yellow light- that's beneath you.

They let that happen at your Y?
At mine the person who drops them off has to pick them up and they don't hand them and your cards back over until your initials are on the sheet. They're very diligent about it.

Peanut sitting on a railroad track
His heart was all a-flutter
Along came the Nine-O-Two
Toot-toot! Peanut butter!

I was at a playground and lost track of one of my kids for about a minute. Thoughts of Michael Dunahee raced through my head.
